2016 Henty Machine of the Year

Recognises most outstanding new piece of ag- machinery exhibited at the upcoming Henty field days

More than 20 entries have been received for the 2016 Henty Machine of the Year award, which will be judged by an independent panel of farmers prior to the Henty Machinery Field Days.

The winner will be announced at the opening ceremony of the field days on September 20.

According to organisers, past award-winning machines went on to become standard pieces of equipment on farms.

Judging criteria includes machine purpose, scope of application, construction, ease of maintenance, ease of operation, availability of parts and overall value for money.

This year, entries range from Australia’s smallest digital TIG AC/DC welder which weighs just eight kilograms, up to one of the biggest mother bins on the market, the 135-tonne mother bin by Coolamon.

Last year, the award drew 13 entries with TPOS Fabrications of Coonooer West (VIC) eventually sweeping up the accolade for its Flatrac wheel track renovator.

A highly commended award went to Haze Ag of Cudal (NSW) for its innovative fertiliser spreader.

Machine of the Year chairman Matt Bergmeier says the award is open to all machines on site released into the Australian market in the past 12 months.

"A win at Henty gives the entrant valuable exposure for their product," he says.

Another award handed out at the field days is the Tractor and Machinery Association of Australia award. It is judged and presented on the final day of the event to the best new Australian-made machine.

Last year, it was won by the K-Line Speedtiller Powerflex, manufactured by K-Line Agriculture.
