2017 Can-Am off-road range unveiled

The new line-up will include an entry-level HD8 Defender base model

Can-Am has unveiled its 2017 side-by-side and ATV line-ups for Australia and New Zealand, with the highlights being the introduction of a Defender HD8 base model and the addition of six-seater MAX variants for the Defender HD8 DPS and HD10 XT.

The Defender HD8 Base has been de-specced from the standard HD8 DPS, which means no dynamic power steering, rear-open differential or Visco lock front differential.

All Defenders sold in Australia and New Zealand have a speed-limiting work key which limits top speed to 40km/h without reducing the torque available.

The Outlander ATV range will see the introduction of a “Pro” package in the 450cc, 570cc and 650cc models.

The Pro package focusses on utility-based enhancements, and standard features include dynamic power steering, six-ply 26-inch heavy-duty tyres, a reinforced seat cover, 292mm of ground clearance and a 109kg rear rack capacity.

The 2017 Outlander line-up includes a triple black livery, available on the sports-focused 850 XT-P, 1000R XT-P and 1000R Max XT-P. The Renegade 1000R X xc also offers the black livery.
