If you’re a small to medium business owner in the market for a new light truck, there’s never been a better time to buy one.
That’s because the federal government’s generous new instant asset write-off threshold of $150,000 and traditional end of financial year deals will both end on June 30, which is now less than two months away.
So here are five ripper light trucks that you can write off on tax right now.
Isuzu has its Ready for Work range that it has been pushing for quite a few years now. The Ready to Work range includes the N Series that can be driven on a car licence or optioned up to carry more weight. The N Series includes the NNR 45-150 Traypack Crew which would be a great alternative to a dual-cab ute.
It’s powered by a 110kW (150hp) 375Nm four-cylinder turbo-diesel and drives through either a five-speed manual transmission or six-speed AMT with torque converter.
There are plenty of other Ready to Work vehicle in the Isuzu range and all come with full warranty on the truck and body.
Isuzu has just kicked off its end-of-financial-year marketing campaign and you can get some ripper deals.
In the car-licence category, Fuso offers its Canter Range and like Isuzu it offers its Built Ready range of vehicles that you can literally drive out of the dealership and onto a work site.
The range includes tippers, tray bodies, pantechs even refrigerated trucks all ready to roll.
The canters are available with either a five-speed manual or six-speed dual-clutch auto.
Fuso says the Built Ready concept ensures correct, engineering-approved fitment to the chassis, with tested wiring routing. This process avoids nasty surprises when a new truck goes into service.
Another advantage is that a customer can view a bodied truck, making sure it’s exactly suited to the intended transport task.

Hino’s contribution to the car-licence market is the 300 Series.
Safety is big on the Hino agenda and in fact with a features list including vehicle stability control (VSC), dual SRS airbags, four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and ABS, Hino says the 300 Series is the safest light duty truck ever sold in Australia.
Hino offers Standard Cab, Wide Cab and Crew Cab variants as well as a choice of three transmissions: manual, automated manual and full auto. There is even a hybrid version.
Hino has its Built to Go range that includes tippers and a variety of tray backs in either alloy or steel.
For a limited time, you can pick up the only Japanese Built to Go light-duty truck with a fully automatic transmission for the price of a Manual. That’s a big bonus which makes your new Hino unbelievably easy to drive.
To make the deal even better, Hino is also offering a $500 Visa gift card with every 2019-plated truck.
Plus, Hino is the only truck manufacturer to offer capped price servicing across the entire range. Find out more about Hino's EOFY deals here.
Iveco recently released its Tradie Made light truck and until the end of June, or while stocks last, Iveco is offering factory bonuses on the work-ready trayback.
The added value includes a free heavy-duty tray, five years of free scheduled servicing and a five-year factory warranty, all for $57,910 plus on-road costs. Prospective owners will also receive a bonus $500 Visa gift card.
The tray is Australian-made, aluminium and has external measurements of 2218mm wide by 4223mm long. The Daily can be driven on a car licence and provides up to two tonnes of payload so it’s an ideal upgrade from a traditional ute or dual cab 4x4.
The Daily is powered by a 3.0 litre engine with 170hp (127kW) and 430Nm and drives through a Hi-Matic eight-speed full automatic transmission.
Other standard features include four airbags, ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution as well as stability control and Hill Start Aid, while keeping things comfy in the cabin is a driver’s suspension seat with armrest, IVECONNECT Multimedia System with GPS and cruise control.
In late 2018, Mercedes-Benz hit the market with a revised Sprinter range that offered up to 1700 variants. Within those variants is the Sprinter Cab/chassis range which have proven to be very popular for those changing up from traditional car-based ute.
The Sprinter offers much in the way of Mercedes-Benz comfort and safety. And as our road tester opined in his report from the launch: “The 516 sports a 2.1-litre 120kW twin-turbo engine with the optional six-speed auto gearbox. It was a great combination that certainly didn’t drive like a truck with a 4490 GVM.
It really was quite a pleasurable drive and had me thinking that with the extensive range of options and sizes, and the driveability of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, it’s no wonder they have such a large chunk of the market.”
As an End of Financial Year offer, Mercedes-Benz is offering generous factory bonuses on all light commercial vehicles including the Sprinter cab/chassis. This equates to up to $5k plus the first three scheduled services for free.
You can read all about it here and Mercedes-Benz also has a handy search facility where you can search dealers for great demo deals.
