Thanks to their compact nature, narrow turning radius and the ability to be used with an assortment of attachments, the list of things you didn’t know you could do with skid steer/compact track loaders is just about as long as the universally accepted practices such as post-hole digging, light dozing and trenching.
Some of the more unusual uses include repairing roads, removing concrete, mixing cement, lifting, grading and clearing snow. And there are plenty more!
Let’s take a look at the most popular brands on constructionsales.com.au in 2022.
Much like ‘Stanley knife’ has become the generic term for a utility knife, ‘Bobcat’ has achieved something similar in the skid steer/compact track loader orbit.
That’s universal brand recognition companies love, and in 2022, visitors to the site have continued the admiration with five of the top 10 most viewed compact track loaders from the Bobcat corner.
The 3.6-tonne T590 leads the way, followed by the S590 and T870.
It’s always nice to sit at the pointy end of a list (well, a list that’s providing good news…), and that’s where Kubota resides with its SVL75 getting the most views – and by a fair margin ahead of the second-placed machine, too.
The SVL75 has a 55kW engine and a lifting capacity of 2241kg, and perfectly embodies the powerful, comfortable, durable and versatile nature of Kubota products.
Much like Bobcat, Caterpillar’s wide spread of popular models meant that it was firmly ensconced inside the top 10 views for compact track loaders, with its 259D gaining the most attention.
The 259D weighs 4.06 tonnes, has an operating capacity of 1315kg, and a track width of 400mm.
The 259D3 was next in the Caterpillar pecking order, with the 299D3 in third position – all getting well over 6000 views.
Case has also been pushing hard at the sharp end of the pack, with its TR270 the third most viewed skid steer loader.
The four-cylinder turbo loader produces 55kW, the overall height is two metres, and the operating load is 1225kg – and its other vital specs are obviously resonating with prospective buyers.
Terex’s PT30 produced the goods in 2022, with over 9000 views on the sites – the interest in that item alone enough to put the construction equipment specialist into the top five brands.
Terex first released the 1.63-tonne PT30 in 2012, complete with an operating capacity of 431kg and a track width of 280mm – making it ideal for landscapers and mini combo operators in particular.
