ABS Ag Census is back

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is urging farming businesses who have been invited to partake in the 2016 Agricultural Census to compete their survey by July 7

Conducted once every five years, the ABS Agricultural Census is one of Australia’s largest statistical collections which provides a rich data source for the agricultural industry.

The 2016 census is currently underway and farming businesses have until Thursday July 7 to complete and submit their forms.

ABS says over 103,000 farming businesses have been invited to take part in the 2016 census.

This year, ABS has made it easier for participants to complete their surveys by allowing them to submit their information online.

Complete the survey online

"By jumping online to complete the Ag Census the farming community will be able to take advantage of a faster, easier, secure and environmentally friendly way of providing their information to the ABS," says ABS Industry Statistics Division General Manager Jacky Hodges.

"This time around we are aiming for a 70 per cent take-up rate for the online reporting option."

Hodges adds the ABS is relying on the farming community to be active participants in the Ag Census, as the data will be critical to their industry’s future.

"Their participation is important to ensure an accurate picture is available on which to base significant decisions for Australian agriculture."

For those who need support completing their Ag Census or have questions, call the ABS on 1800 462 609.
