AgQuip 2020 postponed

Iconic agricultural field days pushed to November

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and gathering restrictions in place, Australia’s largest farming field days is determined to go ahead this year but with new dates.

The AgQuip field days, scheduled to take place in Gunnedah, NSW from August 18 to 20 this year will now run from November 10 to 12.

The decision was made by the organiser, ACM Rural Events Group, following extensive consultation with exhibitors and visitors via surveys. This is the first time in the field days’ 48 year history that it has to be rescheduled.

ACM Rural Events Group Manager, Kate Nugent, said it was important to still stage the historic event despite the pandemic as the farming industry is expecting one of the best outlook in years thanks to recent widespread rain.

“Farmers who hadn’t produced a crop for many seasons, were anticipating excellent harvests,” she said.

“With pastures and flocks thriving too, people on the land were being offered the opportunity of replacing and updating equipment, in a way they hadn’t dared to consider for some time.

“Whilst we will be in the midst of harvest time (in November) and hopefully free from coronavirus restrictions, we can be assured in offering hope and opportunity, there will be a lot of buying decisions made on the field.”

Nugent added the field days have been receiving solid enquiries from new agri-companies looking to exhibit for the first time this year, and said the committee will aim to allocate sites to both new and existing clients in a fair and equitable way.
