AgQuip charging for entry for first time in history

Iconic field days introduce entrance fee in order to cope with inflation and rising costs

For the first time since the field days’ inception, AgQuip will be charging patrons an entrance fee of $10 for adults (at the gate) while admission remains free for children under 12 years of age.

However, event organiser, ACM Rural Events, is urging visitors to pre-book their tickets online where tickets cost only $5, and they can skip the queue on the day of their visit.

According to organisers, ticket sales will help AgQuip remain sustainable and meaningful for its surrounding rural communities and the primary industry at large.

“AgQuip, like so many other field days across Australia, has been impacted financially by COVID-19 restrictions and with years to recover and rising inflation, costs have increased substantially since the event was last staged in 2019,” ACM Rural Events said.

The field days were cancelled two years in a row – in 2020 and in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All visitors will also be required to register their details prior to entry, either online when purchasing tickets or at the ticket booths at the field days’ entrances.

Ticket booths will be located around the perimeter of the static display area in the main western car park, southern car park and eastern car park.

Car parking is free and gates open at 7.30am daily. For anyone who has pre-purchased a ticket online, they can simply show the QR codes on their smartphones and enter via the pre-purchase laneways.

This year, the show is sponsored by financial services firm, AON. It also has an earlier start time of 8.30am on all days of the event.

ACM Rural Events will continue to run a free parcel pick up service, free shuttle bus service, free Official Guide publication, free event app and several other services for visitors’ continued enjoyment.

In addition, the event is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, with the first ever AgQuip show held in 1973.

Event organisers are expecting more than 3000 businesses, organisations and authorities to be represented at the event, displaying products and services valued at over $200 million.

What’s in store

In 2022, AgQuip will introduce a new Agri-Tech Expo focusing on agri-tech products, services, and innovation.

The Rural Relief Centre will also make a return this year. It will feature a number of rural and regional support organisations that will be present to provide lifesaving preventative health and safety information, as well as assistance in applying for funding assistance for farmers and families.

Visitors can also look forward to an array of demos featuring farm machinery, motorbikes, UTVs, drones, 4WD, horses and working dogs; with a demonstration area specifically set up for each demo type.

Organisers are expecting over 100,000 visitors through the gates over the three days of the event.
