Agritechnica 2023 kicks off

World’s largest agricultural trade fair is now running in Hanover, Gemrnay until November 18

The biennial Agritechnica trade fair is back in full swing this year after the previous event, scheduled to be held in 2021, was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, the show returns with the theme of "Green Productivity - inspiration and solutions" to explore ways to increase farming productivity using fewer resources and at lower intensity while protecting the environment.

Agritechinca organisers, DLG (German Agricultural Society), said over 2600 exhibitors from all over the world has signed up to exhibit at the show, making the event a truly global one.

The jam-packed exhibition program will be complemented by a technical program with ‘expert stages’, spotlights and conferences on topics such as smart farming, automation, connectivity, autonomous agricultural technology and alternative powertrains.

Innovative startup companies and engineering teams will be presenting their offering in the DLG Prototype Club and in the agrifood start-ups area.

Innovations galore

Another main feature making its return this year is Agritechnica’s Innovation Awards, which presents one gold medal and 17 silver medals to companies presenting products which have the potential to change the face of farming.

Some of the winners this year include hybrid tractors, electric tractors, fully automated tractors, potato windrowers, smart tech and more.

The innovation taking out the gold medal is New Holland’s CR twin axial rotor combine harvester concept.

The harvester has been designed to offer maximum threshing performance while complying with machinery width restrictions.

“The core element of the new CR combine harvester is the drive technology with an engine that is mounted longitudinally according to the rotors’ angle of inclination,” the brand explains.

“The centrally located split-power gearbox is used to drive rotors and harvesting headers with an intake chain in a straight line or via a propeller shaft. The left rotor serves as a counter shaft for the feed drum. The propeller shaft is located on the right-hand side of the chassis above the level of the rotor housing. Consequently, there are no drives on either side of the chassis between the chassis and the running gear, as a result of which the width of the chassis has increased considerably. The resulting space has been used to widen the threshing channel and therefore to increase the installed technical output of the combine harvester.”

Complementary programs

A “Systems & Components” exhibition will once again be held as part of Agritechnica in 2023. The show provides information on the latest developments and innovations in the field of components for agricultural machinery and related sectors. Key topics include the environment, safety, innovative powertrain technologies, networking and automation, as well as digital services such as predictive maintenance, 3D printing, cyber security, augmented reality, Artificial Intelligence (AI)I and data management.

A new program for this year, “Inhouse Farming - Feed & Food Show" explores up and coming ways of farming and food production such as aquaponics, alternative proteins, vertical farming and cellular agriculture, among others.

DLG expects over 400,000 visitors from Germany and abroad to visit the show over its week-long program.

Visitors can purchase tickets online prior to arriving at the show, which costs about $A45 for a regular one-day ticket.

This year, Agritechnica is offering customers the option to purchase a "Green Ticket” which costs about $A50 per day ticket. For every "Green Ticket" sold, one tree will be planted in Germany to support a reforestation project managed by the WeReforest association.
