All-new Can-Am Defender HD11 for 2026

Canadian UTV giant Can-Am has overhauled its popular Defender platform

Can-Am has unveiled the next generation of its popular Defender UTV platform, with the brand promising “best-in-class features, industry-leading technology, and reliable performance”.

According to Can-Am, the all-new 2026 Defender HD11 is a ground-up overhaul of the Defender platform and was subjected to more than 10,000 hours of engine testing and 60,000 km of accelerated hard driving.

“At Can-Am, we know the clock never stops for our farmers,” said Can-Am’s global marketing director, Julie Tourville. “This next-gen Defender platform is built to prove it and match the unstoppable spirit of our hardworking customers.”

At the heart of the new Defender is a 999 cc three-cylinder Rotax ACE engine, producing a claimed 95 hp and 70 lb-ft (95 Nm) of torque. The motor is paired with a new CVT transmission and a pDrive primary clutch, while there are also three selectable drive modes: Normal, Work, and Sport.

Durability and capability have also been improved, with Can-Am claiming best-in-class payload, towing, and cargo capacity. Other updates include a larger 45-litre fuel tank, revised air intake, improved cooling, and a new HVAC system.

A new Quick-4Lok auto-locking front differential is fitted to the XT model, while the Limited, Lone Star, and X mr variants gain an electronically controlled Smart-Lok system.

The chassis features new suspension geometry with a 65-inch-wide design, stronger A-arms, 12 inches of suspension travel, and a best-in-class 15 inches of ground clearance. Brakes have also been upgraded with larger rotors and twin-piston callipers.

Can-Am claims the new Defender has the largest cab in its class, with more interior space, reduced noise, and a new 10.25-inch touchscreen display with full connectivity.

There are six HD11 models in the range: XU, XT, XT MAX, X mr, Limited, and Lone Star, with three- and six-seat configurations available depending on the variant.

The new Can-Am Defender HD11 range is expected to arrive in 2026, while Can-Am has confirmed the HD9 will also return.

Can-Am also unveiled a new electric Outlander quad bike, although it will only be available in markets outside Australia, including New Zealand.
