Can-Am updates Defender, Maverick for 2027

Can-Am has unveiled its 2027 side-by-side vehicle line-up, with updates across its Defender and Maverick ranges aimed at improving performance, comfort and capability.

Among the biggest changes is a new-generation Defender HD10, which adopts a new 80hp Rotax three-cylinder engine alongside chassis, suspension and technology upgrades.

The HD10 follows the introduction of the 2026 Defender HD11, bringing many of the larger model’s updates to Can-Am’s mid-horsepower offering.

Can-Am says the new engine is designed to deliver quieter performance while retaining the working capability expected from the Defender range.

The second-generation HD10 also receives a revised chassis and suspension set-up, while updates inside the cab include a new 5-inch colour display.

Higher-spec Limited, X mr and Lonestar models step up to a 10.25-inch wireless touchscreen with embedded navigation through BRP GO!, along with AM/FM radio, digital audio and customisable screen functions.

The system also enables over-the-air software updates when the vehicle is connected to Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot.

Can-Am says the Defender XU will be available with its second-generation HD10 and HD11 models, with the exception of the mud-focused X mr package.

“Simply put, the 2027 Can-Am lineup is all about refinement and value,” Can-Am Off-Road marketing director, Jeremi Doyon-Roch said.

“At Can-Am, we never rest on our laurels. We are always striving for the ultimate rider experience.”

Can-Am has also made a series of changes to its performance-focused Maverick range for 2027.

All Maverick R models now receive the second-generation Rotax dual-clutch transmission, which was initially introduced on the Maverick R X rc and Maverick R MAX.

The updated transmission adds an extra low gear to improve power delivery in low-speed terrain, while reinforced components are designed to handle additional torque.

All 2027 Maverick R and Maverick X3 models also gain integrated window nets, while the Maverick X3 adds door fillers to improve cabin sealing.

RS and DS versions of the Maverick X3 will also be fitted with a full roof.

Further down the range, Can-Am is expanding its X package to Maverick Sport models for 2027.

Designed with trail riding in mind, the package adds equipment including LED lighting, full doors, a roof and upgraded suspension components.

The 2027 Can-Am off-road range is expected to progressively reach markets following its global unveiling, with Australian model availability, specifications and pricing to be confirmed.
