Case IH Australia has announced two key upgrades to its model year 2020 Patriot self-propelled sprayers, both of which involves the boom.
From this year, Patriot 4430 models will come with the option of a larger 135ft (41.1m) boom, offering increased productivity and compatibility with a Controlled Traffic Farming (CTF) scheme.
The automatic boom height upgrade applies to Patriot 3330 and 4330 models and is known as AutoBoom XRT, the latest version of Raven’s AutoBoom boom height control suite of products. One of the XRT’s key difference from the previous AutoBoom system, Case IH said, is radar sensor technology that replaces ultrasonic technology.
Where previously there was no chassis sensing, now the XRT system offers chassis pitch and roll sensing.
Case IH Australia Product Manager for Patriot Sprayers, Alyx Selsmeyer, said the new AutoBoom XRT will bring customers greater levels of boom control and protection, alongside other features such as simultaneous ground and canopy detection; lighter and smaller sensors; and smoother movement and quicker reaction time compared to other systems on the market.
These recent changes follow the launch of a 6000-litre product tank for the 4430 in 2019, and in 2020 this larger stainless-steel tank will be shipping from the US as standard.
“All of these changes have been driven by feedback from the Australian market, which is something we’re very proud of,” Selsmeyer said.
“This ensures the latest Patriots offer what local farmers are looking for in a self-propelled sprayer and are ideally suited to the demands of local conditions,” she said.
“Patriot sprayers are still constructed in the US at Benson, Minnesota, where the first Patriots were designed, tested and built more than 25 years ago and running parallel with that proud heritage is the legacy of superior performance and outstanding durability. These latest changes only enhance that reputation.”
