Case IH Maxxum 145 Multicontroller named Tractor of the Year

Four cylinder range-topping Maxxum impressed a panel of European judges at EIMA

Case IH took home not one but two major tractor awards - Best Design and the prestigious Tractor of the Year 2019 at the recent EIMA International farm machinery trade show held in Bologna, Italy.

The judging panel, which consisted of European agricultural magazine editors, said the 145hp Case IH Maxxum 145 Multicontroller impressed on all fronts, including its efficient fuel consumption, driving comfort and outstanding design.

More importantly, it was the ActiveDrive 8 eight-step semi-powershift transmission that took the cake.

“The double-clutch semi-powershift transmission has positively impressed in terms of manoeuvrability and performance,” the judges said.

“All gear and range shift can be done manually or automatically in an extremely fluid way.”

The Case IH Maxxum 145 Multicontroller was launched in Europe last year and in addition to the semi-powershift transmission, also comes with a Multicontroller armrest and joystick that controls the transmission as well as a host of other tractor operating functions.

Maxxum tractors are also available with four-step powershift and continuously-variable transmissions.

These are not the first accolades the Case IH Maxxum 145 Multicontroller has won since its introduction, with its first award being the Machine of the Year 2018 in the mid-class tractor category presented in November 2017 at the Agritechnica trade show in Hanover, Germany.

“We are delighted to have been awarded the 2019 Tractor of the Year accolade for the Maxxum 145 Multicontroller,” said Case IH vice-president for Europe, Africa and the Middle East, Thierry Panadero.

“It’s a fitting recognition that greater transmission efficiency and ease of control both have parts to play in not only making farming more profitable, but more sustainable too.

“Helping to make operations easier, more efficient and more environmentally-friendly is a core criteria in the design of our machines, so it’s gratifying to see the Maxxum Multicontroller’s features recognised in this way.”

The Case IH Maxxum 145 Multicontroller is not currently part of the Australian or New Zealand product range, with Case IH yet to announce any plans to introduce the model into the local market.
