The heavy end of Case IH's tractor range has come in for some attention, with the 2016 Steiger Quadtrac line-up boasting a number of revisions.
A key new feature is an LED lighting package that provides a full 360 degrees of illumination, the upgrade now standard on all new models.
Case IH High Horsepower Product Manager Pete McCann says the driving force behind the 2016 model upgrades were productivity and durability.
"Australian farmers tend to do a lot of paddock work at night," he says.
"That's because sometimes there are not enough daylight hours, or they just keep going until a job is done, or they are making the most of the conditions.
"Having every light possible on these tractors will really help productivity."
Case IH has also upgraded the track belts to heavier-duty 6500 Camso belts.
"You need the heaviest belts available when you're using 600hp so we've included the 6500 belts as standard on new models," McCann says.
Steering on the 2016 Case IH Steiger Quadtrac range has been refined with the addition of a speed reactive steering system called Advanced Steering.
Assisting the driver during headland turns and line acquisition, it reduces the number of physical turns required while in the paddock working but increases the number of turns needed when roading at high speed, therefore increasing stability.
An additional upgrade is a new automatic diff lock actuator, which disengages as the driver steers into the turn and then re-engages as the vehicle straightens up and re-acquires the line.
"This means drivers don't have to tap the brake to get the diff lock to disengage for sharp turns; it's just one more little feature we've added to the 2016 model as standard," McCann says.
Case IH said the exclusive five-axle design utilised by its Quadtrac tractors gives them a smoother ride and delivers more power to the ground.
McCann said he is confident the modifications for 2016, when combined with the enhancements made in 2015 (such as the wider track undercarriage design), will bring about improved productivity and durability for customers.
"Case IH is all about finding ways of doing things better; knowing our customers trust and want to work together with us, just as we do them," he says.
"Because we're made to do our best, we make the best equipment and then we ensure we have features that protect our customers' equipment investments."
