AGCO tractor brand Challenger has announced the arrival of the long awaited new generation of MT700 tracked tractors Down Under.
It features a plethora of upgrades including a redesigned MobilTrac System (MTS) and the latest in precision farming technology to cater to the needs of results-oriented agribusinesses.
“Today’s producers demand more than just power and floatation from their track tractors,” says Challenger product manager, Tim Oldaker.
“Challenger continues to deliver production-enhancing features and onboard technologies that help producers better manage their farming businesses and increase profitability.”
The MT700 tractor range has been designed using the AccuEngineering platform and features new styling, as well as a new engine, transmission, undercarriage and hydraulics.
The range offers three models from 380 to 431hp, powered by AGCO Power 9.8-litre Tier-3 diesel engines equipped with concentric air systems (CAS).
The tractors’ AccuDrive powertrain features the Challenger Accu-VT continuously variable transmission that gives a smooth, seamless operation and offers high-torque at low speed when combined with the advanced technology in the AccuDrive system.
The system lets the Challenger MT700 Series run in the maximum torque range while delivering low fuel consumption for increased productivity and lower operation costs.
All systems, including the hydraulics and PTO, have been designed to run at lower engine rpms to further lower fuel costs and reduce engine wear.
According to Challenger, the upgraded hydraulic system offers greater flow at lower engine rpms to meet the demands of the latest planters and implements. Now instead of running at full throttle to meet the hydraulic needs, the AccuDrive system allows full output at 1700 rpm.
Challenger said this not only allows the tractor to run in the peak torque range of 1200 to 1600 rpm, but it does so more efficiently with less engine wear and also results in a quieter working environment for the operator.
According to Challenger, the MT700 series is the first two-tracked tractor in the market with three stages of suspension to offer superior comfort and the ability to traverse terraces and uneven surfaces with ease.
The patented MTS track system is renowned for delivering power to the ground and now features an enhanced design to offer even more benefits.
“Operators are going to notice a significant difference in the ride comfort – one they won’t find on any other track tractor,” Oldaker said.
“The MaxxRide integrated comfort system consists of the oscillating midwheels, hardbar suspension and cab suspension, so operators experience great ride quality without sacrificing the in-field benefits of power, control and traction,” he said.
“Handling at higher road speeds has also been improved, and ride comfort when travelling on the road is noticeably better than previous models.”
The primary suspension has been redesigned with rugged coil springs and high-capacity shock absorbers for a more comfortable ride. Off-road style, heavy-duty shock absorbers provide precisely tuned digressive damping.
The MobilTrac System has also been redesigned by moving the hardbar further forward, providing a longer wheelbase and more stability.
The steel hardbar acts as a front axle, attaching to the forward point of the roller frame and providing up to 11 degrees of oscillation, for an improved ride. The pivoting carrier attached to the roller frame is now designed with the Tri-Bogie suspension. The midwheels provide unmatched suspension and track-to-ground contact, improving performance and comfort.
A new two-point cab suspension system with increased suspension at the rear of the cab absorbs and dissipates vibration from the ground through the rear axle.
In the cab of the MT700 series is an easy-to-use 10.4-inch AccuTerminal touch screen that Challenger said has an intuitive smartphone feel.
Using the AccuTerminal, operators can easily manage all tractor settings and adjustments, plus monitor and control ISOBUS 11783 compatible implements, camera function, field documentation, variable rate applications, guidance and wireless data transfer, and the AccuField Command headland management system.
The Advantage armrest, AccuTerminal, Advantage joystick, PTO controls and colour-coded keypad are all within easy reach, creating less distraction and fatigue for the operator.
Other improvements include an air-ride seat, larger instructor seat and Bluetooth capability.
A new LED light package adds more lights at the rear of the tractor, positioned to provide a clear view to each end of a planter, for example, for late nights in the field.
When leaving the field after a long day, porch lighting on the cab provides a safe view of the area, then the smart-battery disconnects power for the night. An integrated walk around platform, unique to the MT700 series, provides secure access for cleaning windows if the tractor isn't equipped with the side washer/wiper system.
In addition, the three new models can easily connect with AGCO’s suite of Fuse Technologies and Fuse Connected Services for the latest guidance, precision farming and remote monitoring technology.
The MT700 series features AGCO’s next gen Auto-Guide automated steering system that allows for reliable and accurate steering in all conditions.
Customers may select the accuracy level and signal source to meet their specific needs, choosing from two receiver providers - Novatel and Trimble.
A number of correction signals are supported, depending on the receiver. The guidance options are part of AGCO’s Fuse Technologies package.
