Checchi and Magli rebrands, releases new plastic mulch transplanters

Realising the difficulties English speakers have with the pronunciation of Italian brand Checchi and Magli, local distributor Inlon has announced the rebranding of the seedling transplanting product range to CAM planters.

The company was founded by Mr Checci and Mr Magli in Budrio in the province of Bologna, Italy, 42 years ago. Its TEX planter arrived in Australia about 30 years ago and has been popular on local farms since. The TEX seedling planter system is a modular, flexible system for single row right through to wide 12-row configurations with different mechanisms to suit different plants and planting methods; as well as the desired row and plant spacings.

In addition to the rebranding exercise, Inlon has also launched a new range of CAM planters that plants through plastic mulch.

“Plastic mulch machinery is a fast-growing segment with increasing enquiries and sales over recent years,” said Inlon’s Managing Director, Jim Jardim.

“As well as the CAM PLASTIC LAYER machine, we now have a CAM PLASTIC RETRIEVER machine, and a CAM SEED PLANTER for planting through plastic,” he said.

“With a 3-point linkage kit, it’s possible to lay plastic and plant in one pass.”

He added CAM Planters has also developed a range of machines for small scale organic potato and garlic growers, which the company has identified as another growing segment.

As well as offering complete planting machines, CAM Planters also offers an easy and cost effective way to upgrade existing planters of any brand. Operators simply unbolt their old planters from the toolbar and bolt-in the CAM UNITRIUM Unit. According to Inlon, operators save money by keeping their current toolbars, wheels, shelves and shade.
