In response to customer requirement for a mid to high horsepower tractor with more user-friendly features and is easy to maintain, CLAAS has unveiled the ARION 660 offering 205hp maximum horsepower.
It comes with a number of new features including a new front axle suspension, new Stage 4 emissions standards compliant engine and new “backpacker ready” operator consoles to close the gap between CLAAS’ mid-range ARION tractors and its AXION higher horsepower models.
The new PROACTIV front axle suspension offers improved ride stability. The double acting suspension actively reduces unwanted compression and rebound on braking and acceleration for a comfortable ride. CLAAS has also reduced the maintenance points on the suspension for reduced downtime.
“In the past we had a very comfortable suspension but it was very high maintenance. So we've adjusted that with our update and now this front axle only has four grease points so it's very user friendly,” said CLAAS Tractors product specialist, Michael Pundt.
The ARION 660 is powered by a six-cylinder 6.8-litre DPS engine with SCR, DPF and AdBlue systems added in to meet Stage 4 engine emissions standards.
“There is also a new variable turbocharger which drops the revs from 800rpm to only 650 when idling,” Pundt said.
“This really saves fuel when the tractor is just idling and not using any of its power.”
The ARION 660 comes standard with CLAAS’ CVT transmission, the CMATIC, and is available with different operator console options in the cab to cater to different needs.
First introduced in the AXION 800 range last year, the CIS, CIS+ and CEBIS consoles will now also be available in the ARION 660, making the model “backpacker ready”. The new CIS+ in particular, is simple to operate but also comes with some niceties including a colour display on the A-pillar and gives operators a choice of either HEXASHIFT powershift transmission or CMATIC CVT transmission.
A new load-sensing hydraulic system gives the ARION 660 an output of 150l/min, while the rear linkage has a lift capacity of eight tonnes.
According to Pundt, the new features will not only be on the ARION 660 but also across the ARION 500 and 600 units.
Pricing for the ARION 660 starts from around $200,000.
