CLAAS AXION 900 receives upgrades for 2022

CLAAS’ popular high horsepower tractors receive further refinements, including colour customisation and a new engine

In response to customer demand, CLAAS has introduced a range of new features and upgrades on its AXION 900 high horsepower tractor range, which has been around in the Australian market since 2011.

Along with the upgrades, CLAAS is also adding a new model – the AXION 920 with a power output of 329hp, to the Australian lineup. With that, the local CLAAS AXION 900 range now consists of three models – the 920, the 930 with 363hp and the 950 with 423hp.

The CLAAS AXION 900 now comes in three colour schemes - metallic grey, metallic black and metallic green

Engine and transmission upgrades

A key upgrade to the 2022 CLAAS AXION 900 range is a new Tier-3 engine which offers more power compared to the previous Tier-2 machines, according to CLAAS Australia High Horsepower Tractors Product Manager, James Harrison.

“We remain with the FPT 8.7-litre engine that is a low regulated Tier-3 engine meaning no AdBlue is required to run the engine, which is a benefit for the end user,” he said.

“We’ve increased the horsepower, so our top line 950 model has increased from 410hp to 423hp. We also gain more torque from 1650 Newton metres to an impressive 1760 Newton metres.”

A new ZF TMG 45 transmission helps to transfer the extra power and torque efficiently to the ground.

“Like with all AXIONS, we have no engine boost system on the 900 series, so we have full power, accessible all the time,” Harrison said.

New front axle

The front axle has been upgraded for improved steering capacity, CLAAS says

The AXION 900 now features a new heavy-duty suspended front axle that allows for improved steering capacity, CLAAS said.

“We have a larger steering cylinder now which has increased our steering performance and it also allows us now to fit front duals or go to 3m centres with easier steering,” Harrison said.

“We also have increased swivels to take that greater load from the duals or the 3m centres. And on the front axle we now have greaseable pivot points, so we have increased serviceability of the front axle as well.”

Customisation

A great new feature CLAAS is offering with the MY22 AXION 900 tractor range is the Special Operations Centre customisation option that allows users to truly make their machine their own.

First of all, customers now get to choose from three colours – metallic green, metallic grey and metallic black. The customisation also extends into the cab with different packages available for customers to choose from, including an advanced driver pack which features customised floor mats, extra terminal brackets and other comfort features in the cab.

“We also have the option of fitting an Apple CarPlay stereo system with a subwoofer and speakers to really give the end user that comfort for a long day's work,” Harrison added.

New operating terminal

All AXION 900 models now come standard with the CEBIS 12-inch touch screen terminal, which is CLAAS’ range-topping operating terminal.

“And with that 12-inch CEBIS Touch terminal we now get ISO UT capability as well as the CEMOS automatic,” Harrison said.

CEMOS is a dialogue-based operator assistance system which optimises machine settings to get the best results from the tractor and attached implement.

“The system gives operators recommendations on machine setup and implement setup to increase performance and ultimately reduce fuel consumption,” Harrison said.

“Through some testing that CLAAS has done in Europe, they've seen a 16.8 per cent reduction in fuel usage and a 16.3 per cent increase in productivity, so there's some big savings to be had from the CEMOS system.”

CLAAS’ new AXION 900 tractors are now available for purchase in Australia with more stock arriving in the country soon. For more information, visit claasharvestcentre.com.
