German agricultural equipment manufacturer CLAAS has released details of its new 2023 range of LEXION 8000/7000 harvesters, with the updated line-up boasting numerous enhancements.
The flagship CLAAS LEXION 8800 now has boosted output, its 16.2-litre MAN D42 six-cylinder turbo-diesel producing up to 700hp, while the firm's 8700, 7700, and 7600 models retain the dependable 12.5-litre Perkins 2206 D engine, with respective outputs of 571hp, 524hp, and 461hp.
Grain tank volumes have been increased, while a new cab offers improved operator assistance systems.
According to Steve Reeves, CLAAS Harvest Centre Product Manager, a strength of the entire LEXION engine line-up is its DYNAMIC COOLING and DYNAMIC POWER features.
“DYNAMIC COOLING is an on-demand, variable-drive cooling system that reduces power requirement by 26hp,” he says.
“The horizontal cooling system creates a ‘curtain’ that prevents dust from rising.
“DYNAMIC POWER is an advanced engine management system that automatically adjusts power output to field conditions for maximum fuel efficiency.
“This system has been proven to deliver fuel savings of up to 10 per cent.”
The LEXION 8000 TERRA TRAC models can be fitted with 18,000- or 15,000-litre grain bins, while 7000 TERRA TRAC models can be fitted with 13,500- or 12,500-litre grain bins.
“The 420mm and 330mm diameter unloading augers can be fitted with a pivoting spout that allows precise control of the grain stream by up to 60cm,” Steve says.
“The spout can be operated via the CMOTION multifunction control lever in the cabin.”
The larger cab found in 2023-delivery machines features larger front and side windows, thinner A-pillars, and a cantilevered mirror design that affords a better view of the header, while a new wiper delivers a better sweep for improved vision in wet or dusty conditions.
Other notable features found in the CLAAL LEXION range include a multimedia package, a swivelling leather seat, footrests, a 30-litre cooler, and LED lighting.
“The new 12-inch CEBIS terminal is a high-resolution, high-contrast display that guarantees excellent readability under all lighting conditions and has three adjustable main display areas,” Steve says.
“CEBIS is intuitive and operators can immediately find their way around the various functions and settings.
“A second 12-inch CEMIS 1200 terminal can be positioned on the right-hand side of the cab if the GPS PILOT automated steering system is fitted.”
Meanwhile, there are now more functions available in the CEMOS machine optimisation system, with CEMOS DIALOG and CEMOS AUTOMATIC accessed via a touchscreen and rotary/push controller.
“Another improvement is CEMOS CONNECT, which allows machine settings to be transferred to other machines or devices via the TELEMATICS app,” Steve says.
“In addition, all threshing and cleaning settings can be accessed quickly using direct access buttons on the right-hand side of the operating armrest.”
CLAAS says its LEXION 8000/7000 harvesters have an enlarged APS SYNFLOW HYBRID threshing system said to deliver capacity gains of 10 per cent compared to the previous 700 series.
