CLAAS’s LEXION 8000/7000 combine harvester series has added an iF design award, which recognises excellence in industrial design, to its growing list of accolades.
CLAAS took home one of only 75 gold awards presented at the annual event, out of 7298 entries the committee received this year, and was the only farm machinery manufacturer to be presented with the prestigious accolade.
Each entry was assessed against strict criteria for design, innovation, functionality, manufacturing quality, safety and environmental compatibility.
According to the judging panel, the next-gen CLAAS LEXION impressed with its design that unites ergonomics and comfort.
“The fully glazed cab, which provides an all-round view, the larger grain tank and the high degree of functionality leave little to be desired.
“This is a harvesting machine that begs to be taken to the field!”
The CLAAS LEXION 8000/7000 has been designed from the ground up with increased capacity in the grain tank, improvements to the unloading capacity, and the integration of CLAAS’s unique APS SYNFLOW HYBRID threshing and separation system.
All combined, it provides 10 per cent more capacity than the 700 range, CLAAS said.
“With its revolutionary APS SYNFLOW HYBRID threshing system and cutting-edge operating systems, this series raises the bar for harvesting performance even higher than before,” said CLAAS Harvest Centre LEXION Product Manager, Steve Reeves.
“Every aspect has been re-engineered to meet the needs of today’s grain producers – increased efficiency and ease of operation and reduced downtime and operating costs.”
The LEXION 8000/7000 was designed in-house by the CLAAS Corporate Industrial Design Team.
Although CLAAS has won previous iF awards in conjunction with industrial designers, this is the first time CLAAS has submitted an entry directly in the iF Awards.
“And they won a gold, which is an outstanding achievement,” Reeves said.
CLAAS has previously won iF awards for its JAGUAR 900 and 800 forage harvesters, AXION 800 advanced technology tractors, SCORPION telescopic loaders and RTK FIELD BASE mobile GPS station.
Other gold design award winners span a broad spectrum of products and designs which include Ferrari’s first series-production Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle – the SF90 Stradale; a cookie moulding machine; an app-operated steam rice cooker; and a multi-sensory shower system.
