Deere expands tracked rig offering

New narrow track models added to 9RX high-horsepower tractor range

John Deere has introduced three new models to its 9RX four-tracked tractor line-up, with power outputs of 420, 470 and 520hp.

Fitted with narrow undercarriages, the new units are ideal for controlled traffic farming with 46cm (18 inches) or 61cm (24 inches) wide tracks; and track spacing options of 2, 2.2 or 3m (80, 88 or 120 inches), John Deere says.

“No other tractor manufacturer offers customers so many choices in high-horsepower tractors, and they’re each backed by the best dealer network in the industry,” says John Deere product marketing manager, Tiffany Turner.

"When a 9RX Narrow Track Tractor is utilised in a row-crop setting, there are only two track paths going down the row instead of the tracks made by tractors equipped with duals or triples," she adds.

"Narrow track tractors can reduce the negative agronomic effects on pinch rows, reduce soil compaction and minimise soil disturbance for greater yield potential."

The 9RX narrow track rigs come with a roomy CommandView III cab that features four-corner cab suspension and ActiveCommand Steering that gives operators day-long comfort in the paddock. Matched, full-width mid-rollers reduce pressure, heat and wear; and extend wear life of the tracks. Rubber isolators and oscillating mid-rollers minimise cab vibration and provide a smooth ride.

Inside the tractor cab, important machine functions are easily monitored and controlled using the integrated Gen 4 CommandCenter Display. "A touch-screen on the Gen 4 Display makes it easy to watch and manage different aspects of machine performance and precision-ag technology, including AutoTrac," Turner says.

The new 9RX tractors also feature a 1500-litre diesel fuel tank, increased hydraulic capacity and integrated guidance and information management systems to make light work of heavy duty tasks on the farm.

The tractors are expected to go into production in January 2018, with John Deere now taking orders for the new models.
