Deutz-Fahr 8280 TTV Aussie bound

New 287hp tractor completes Deutz-Fahr’s high power range

German tractor manufacturer, Deutz-Fahr, has recently launched the brand new 8280 TTV high horsepower tractor via its digital channels and farmmachinerysales.com.au can confirm that it is set to arrive in Australia in early 2021.

The 8280 TTV offers an output of 287hp and plugs the gap between the 7 and 9-series in Deutz-Fahr’s high power tractor range.

The Deutz-Fahr 8280 TTV made its global debut late last week

Made in the Deutz-Fahr Land in Lauingen, Germany, the 8280 TTV comes with a series of technological advancements never before offered in Deutz-Fahr’s tractor series.

This includes the SDF T7780 continuously variable transmission which is an innovative composite transmission featuring a multi-stage epicyclic gearbox.

Innovative transmission

“It (the 8280 TTV) uses what we call a compound transmission, which uses two hydrostatic motors instead of one,” Deutz-Fahr Australia product manager, Anthony Darveniza, told farmmachinerysales.com.au.

“There is technology in there that makes it more efficient in the way it delivers the power. In our 7-series tractors, there are two different transmission designs available depending on what work you do.

“Whereas the 8280 TTV has that one transmission with the flexibility to deliver power for heavy duty tillage work as well as road speeds of up to 60km/h.”

The 8280 TTV is powered by a 6.1 litre twin-turbo DEUTZ 6-cylinder engine offering a maximum output of 287hp and 1226Nm of torque.

While the 8280 TTV will be offered in Europe with a Stage-V engine emissions standards compliant engine, Australia will be receiving units with Tier 3 compliant engines with simpler maintenance requirements and lower price points.

“In saying that, Australian farmers are still getting the latest and greatest technology built into the engine, just without the AdBlue, SCR and DPF systems,” Darveniza said.

“We do find farmers here prefer not having all those extra steps in their tractor maintenance procedures,” he said.

“The new twin-turbo charged engine also gives customers a better torque curve at a lower RPM.”

Better driveability and comfort

With the 8280 TTV capable of reaching speeds of up to 60km/h on the road, Deutz-Fahr has equipped the machine with front dry disc brakes for optimum braking.

“That function is new to the Australian range as well and will give you optimum stopping power in all conditions,” Darveniza said.

The MaxiVision2 cab on the tractor has been redesigned for better comfort. It is kept separate from the engine cowl to prevent the transfer of heat, vibration and noise to the cab. A powerful 50,000 lumen LED light package allows farmers to work efficiently in low light conditions.

The intelligent front axle suspension can be adjusted in three settings - auto, normal and soft. Other comfort features include air sprung cab suspension and automatic air conditioning.

Connectivity

Another major development on the 8280 TTV is the suite of CFS (Connected Farming System) connectivity functions in the cab. This includes:

  • ISOBUS with up to 200 Sections Control, Variable Rate Control and Universal Terminal.
  • Tractor Implement Management (TIM). “This technology is probably one that Deutz Fahr is a pioneer of in this sector,” Darveniza said. “So if you’re running a round baler or an implement that is TIM ready, it tells the tractor how to drive, how fast to go, turn the hydraulics on or do other different things. So it's becoming more autonomous in the way we work.”
  • SDF Guidance with increased precision thanks to a new SR20 receiver, CTM module and Auto-Turn function.
  • SDF Fleet Management. “You can use fleet management to locate the tractor as well as obtain operation details from the tractor such as area that has been covered, fuel usage, when it's due for a service etc,” Darveniza said.
  • Agrirouter that allows for standardized data upload and download via cloud or USB port
  • XTend – iMonitor3 screen extension on tablet or smartphones

Strong features

Other features available on the 8280 TTV include:

  • Two-speed front PTO
  • Three rear PTO speed modes
  • CleanOil hydraulic system of 210 l/min
  • Rear lift up to 11,100kg
  • Tyre size of 710/70r42

Easier maintenance

The 8280 TTV has long service intervals for its components, namely 1000 hours for engine oil and 1500 hours for CleanOil in the hydraulic system.

The cooling pack can be opened by the user with a single lever to allow for quick and simple cleaning and maintenance.

Other features allowing for easier maintenance include appropriate service platforms, an external connection for compressed air and fuse tests on the electric circuit boards.

More Deutz in the pipeline

Deutz-Fahr Australia’s Anthony Darveniza also gave farmmachinerysales.com.au a sneak peek at what other products customers can expect soon from the manufacturer Down Under.

It includes the new 4E Keyline series which is an entry-level ROPS utility tractor offering 50hp and 60hp and featuring a clean-sheet design.

“The model will increase our horsepower offering so our range will now go from 50hp right up to 346hp,” Darveniza said.

“It’ll have a new look on it and a few new features such as the EASYLift 3 Point Linkage, a forward reverse shuttle up near the steering column and a proper flat floor for extra comfort.”

He added the first batch of the 4E Keyline has just landed in Australia. Stay tuned for more information.
