Geringhoff has offered its corn header fronts on the eastern seaboard for years but recently through a collaboration with Australian distributor, Waringa Distribution, a range of fronts suitable for other crops such as canola and chickpeas is now available for the local market.
The Geringhoff header front range now features three models with widths from 9.15m to 13.7m - a rigid frame with a flexible cutterbar (Flex), a three-sectioned frame with a rigid cutterbar (TruFlex) and a three-sectioned frame with a flexible cutterbar (TruFlex Razor).
Geringhoff said the TruFlex Razor is currently the most flexible header front on the market and is only currently available from the brand.
Geringhoff International Sales Manager, Patrick Steidle, was recently in Australia to update the range and is looking forward to its performance in the upcoming harvest.

“Following several years working with Waringa Distribution, we have significantly improved the robustness of our fronts to suit Australia’s tough conditions, particularly in relation to the reels, the cutterbar and with the air system,” Steidle said.
Waringa Distribution General Manager, Sam Abbott, said the company was directly involved with the Geringhoff research and development team on various alterations to better customise the fronts for local conditions and improve their durability.
Gregor Garre from Geringhoff has also since joined Waringa Distribution as its Research and Development Manager, adding further local support to the brand, which comes with full parts back-up.
“The wings of the three-sectioned frame act independently, allowing it to adjust from one end to the other by up to 76mm. The flexible cutterbar can add another 150mm for total adjustment nearing 1m,” Steidle said.
“The flexible cutterbar is ideal for harvesting crops like chickpeas, when you want to cut close to the ground. The reel also remains close to the cutterbar as it flexes, which is especially beneficial for when crops are lodged.”
Geringhoff said its fronts have helped reduce pod loss compared to other fronts in chickpeas and lentils.

According to Abbott, the fully integrated air system was another exclusive of Geringhoff’s fronts. Unlike other air systems, it operates directly behind the knife to ensure maximum reduction in harvest losses.
The frames also feature a wide centre section with floating and a mechanical drive intake auger to feed-in high yielding and bulky crops like canola. It was able to accommodate most of the weight including the oil tank, which contributed to outstanding wing flexibility and fast response times.
The centre knife drive also has slim side panels to reduce crop disturbance that is especially important in high value crops like chickpeas.
The Geringhoff header fronts, including the knife, reel and draper speeds, can be completely controlled and monitored from inside the cab.
