Ballarat-based sprayer firm Goldacres recently unveiled its new 8000-litre G8 Super Cruiser self-propelled sprayer, with the company claiming the unit is the only sprayer of its size that is built and fully supported here in Australia.
It features a fixed three-metre axle with constant four-wheel drive, transfer case lock and rear diff lock. A six-cylinder 6.7-litre QSB Cummins engine powers the sprayer, offering 260hp through the Allison 3000 transmission.
Goldacres said the hydraulic system is driven directly from the transmission, giving the Super Cruiser sufficient oil flow without the engine working at high revs, thereby promoting fuel economy.
The cabin has been designed for maximum operator comfort with low noise levels and good ride quality, says the manufacturer, while a lower bonnet position and a 320-degree view from the driver's seat offers superior visibility.
Goldacres' G-Motion handpiece offers precise control of the Super Cruiser. A key feature of the new machine is its ISO compatibility, which allows the use of any guidance system on the market to steer the unit.
A video terminal screen in the cab displays the new Norac ISO Active Wing Roll auto height control function, which comes as an option on all Goldacres sprayers.
Goldacres also showed off its new 42m Tri Tech boom, which features five main chords for reduced twisting when folding and unfolding. It is capable of multiple plumbing options and folding widths.
The conventional cable fold has been replaced with hydraulic cylinders. This gives the boom a secondary breakaway capability at the outer fold point in addition to Goldacres' 3D breakaway at the boom tip.
In addition to the G8 Super Cruiser sprayer, Goldacres also unveiled the G10S spreader system that is built on the same chassis as the G8. The unit is built in collaboration with Ballarat-based spreading company Southern Spreaders, and features a 10 cubic meter stainless steel spreader mounted on the chassis.
The Super Cruiser can be sold as a cab chassis for other applications through Goldacres’ dealer network nationwide.
Goldacres product specialist Tom Glover says the Super Cruiser range has been built to last.
"The Super Cruiser is not a three- or four-year investment; with the quality and simplicity of its design and smart use of components, there is no reason why you would not still have this in 10 years' time," he says.
"Servicing is easy and not expensive; over the first 3000 hours with labour included you would be running for less than $10 an hour."
