Great Plains has announced a number of upgrades to its Spartan II triple disc, no-till air drill range to meet the evolving needs of the Australian market.
Great Plains Product Manager, John Moloney, said customers will reap significant rewards from the improvements made to the MY2020 NTA607-2 Spartan models.
“Our goal is to continuously improve our products to create the best possible user experience,” Moloney said.
A key upgrade is a revised hydraulic circuit design to further optimise the active row-unit down pressure system as well as folding to ensure every seed is planted at the correct depth for effective germination.

Considering the Spartan’s popularity in fodder production, Great Plains has also optimised the MY2020 NTA607-2’s blockage monitor system to work with small, low-rate pasture seeds such as rye grass - which can often be difficult to detect.
A software update supports the use of prescription maps for variable rate application to ensure growers get the highest value from every seed.
Other improvements include upgrades to a more durable 18 PLY rear castor tyre and a redesigned row-unit mounting bracket for increased durability and reduced maintenance requirements.
The Spartan II is available with 6-inch or 7.5-inch row spacing. Customers can opt for alternate row seeding, individual row shut-off, individual row depth control and double-shoot function if they wish, offering maximum versatility.
“We’re very excited to bring this updated Spartan II to the Australian market,” Moloney said.
“The new enhancements will help our customers overcome the challenges of operating in a tough Australian landscape.”
The new Spartan II series is available to order from Great Plains dealers nationwide now, with pre-season discounts available.
