As previously reported, the tractor and ag equipment market is showing no signs of slowing down with this year’s sales figures forecasted to top last year’s already record-breaking numbers.
While tractors are expected to have a fantastic year in 2022, another category expected to record an outstanding result this year is combine harvesters, in anticipation of another bumper harvest despite sub-par weather conditions across the eastern states.
According to the Tractor and Machinery Association of Australia (TMA), combine harvester sales are expected to once again top 1000 units, a stellar result for the market.
In-house data is also reflecting the increased demand for combines, with harvesters taking up seven out of 20 spots on our industry sites’ most viewed product list.
The second most viewed item of 2022 is a John Deere S680, while Case IH’s Axial Flow combines, namely the 8120, 2388, 7088, 8230 and 8240 models also took up spots in the top 20.
Other popular items on the list include mini excavators, earthmoving machinery, sprayers and tractors.
While a forecasted bumper harvest and easing supply chain roadblocks give farmers a number of reasons to remain optimistic, the medium-term outlook is slightly subdued, due to rising interest rates and recent price increases, the TMA said.
With the Temporary Expensing program ending in about six months, it remains to be seen if demand for machinery will start to taper off in the next few months and the months following the program deadline.
