Hustler unveils new chainless bale feeder

The Chainless X2500 features multiple upgrades to cater to smaller farms and offer better manoeuvrability on steeper country

NZ-based farm equipment manufacturer Hustler Equipment has taken the wraps off its newest chainless bale feeder, the X2500 which is based on the larger, trailed Chainless X5000 model.

The three-point linkage machine offers more manoeuvrability and is designed to work on smaller farms and steeper country, the company says.

It is able to feed out bales of any shape and type, including square bales.

Hustler Equipment has installed its patented Snaplox hands-free loading system on the Chainless X2500. The system releases the headstock from the feeding cradle automatically without the need for the operator to tug on a rope to disconnect and risk twisting their backs.

"We’re really pleased with the uptake and reliability of the patented Snaplox connection system, it’s been a real game changer for ease of operation, and convenience," says Hustler Equipment Marketing Manager, Brent Currie.

The Chainless X2500 is compatible with front end loaders, skid steer loaders and telescopic handlers.

"Farmers are starting to really latch on to the visibility advantages, and the fact you can feed out from a laneway without having to enter the paddock is saving them time," Currie adds.

Some of the key upgrades Hustler made to the Chainless X2500 include:

  • New bale tynes that pierce the bale rather than push it
  • New drive connection system which uses two sealed ball race bearings instead of a bush
  • Higher load rating up to 1250kg
  • New 5-feet bed which retains the feed better
  • New adjustable pivot design that can be optimised to suit different types of bale including square vetch and alfalfa

"Being 5-feet and the increased load capacity added a bit of a curveball in the design process, and as a result it has a massive oversized monocoque chassis design which is absolutely bullet-proof," Currie says.

"We’d like to thank the farmers from New Zealand, Australia and America who’ve been involved in the development process, which has helped create the new Chainless X2500.

"We’re pleased with the response and uptake from the investment that has gone into developing the Chainless X2500, with shipping to Canada and USA kicking off in October 2016 and those markets have consumed all our production for the new model well into Q1 of 2017.

"Hustler has demonstration units on hand in most regions and is currently securing pre-orders ahead of the Southern Hemisphere winter."

Hustler Equipment is taking pre-orders now for the Chainless X2500 in Australia, with delivery expected for early 2017.
