Stump jump plough, mechanical sheep shears, mechanised grain stripper…the one thing these items have in common is that they are all Australian innovations that have transformed the agriculture industry and made farmers’ lives much easier.
In recognition of the ever-changing face of the farming industry and the importance of technology in the sector, organisers of the iconic AgQuip field days have created AgSmart, a new event focusing on new agricultural technology and innovation in Australia.
The inaugural event, first announced last year, will be held in Tamworth, NSW, from March 9 to 10.
Event organisers, ACM Rural Events, said AgSmart will play a vital role in bringing the makers and the sellers of these new tech products together with the end users at the one convenient regional location.
“Australian farmers are recognised as world leaders in best practice and efficiency and part of the reason for that is they are continually seeking out new products to help them work more effectively and smarter on their properties,” said ACM Rural Events Group Manager, Kate Nugent.
“Innovation is something that we are seeing increasingly more of in the industry with farmers responding to global market changes, environmental changes in new and interesting ways. AgSmart will assist in giving farmers the knowledge and the new-tech tools to adapt and prosper.”
The event currently has over 100 exhibitors signed up to showcase their tech and services, including machinery giant, Case IH.
Case IH will be exhibiting its AFS Connect Magnum cab simulator at the expo, offering visitors the chance to get behind the wheel of one of the company’s most sophisticated models, and experience the raft of technology at the operator’s fingertips - without needing to be in the paddock.

“The simulator offers a complete cab from a Magnum, giving people the experience without being in the actual tractor,” said Case IH Australia/New Zealand Advanced Farming Systems (AFS) Product Manager, Sean McColley.
“It simulates the movement of the tractor and all the technology features, such as coverage maps and yield monitoring.”
McColley will be running a public seminar on Case IH’s AFS Connect technology on the Thursday (March 10) of the expo, and said the Case IH team is looking forward to being back out in the field and the opportunity to speak to customers face-to-face, showing them new products the company has introduced to the market in the past few years.
“There’s nothing like being in the same room with farmers and being able to demonstrate the exciting new advances that continue to raise the bar for farm productivity in this country,” he said.
“To have an event where the latest in technology breakthroughs is the focus, offers so many opportunities to take customers through the products, step by step, helping demystify the technology if required and answer any questions along the way,” he said.
As part of the event, there will be exhibits, panel discussions, seminars and live demonstrations on offer, giving attendees the opportunity to be back out in the field to learn, discover and network with other farming professionals.
