JCB Construction Equipment Australia (CEA) is launching the most compact telescopic handler in its range, the 516-40, into the Australian market.
JCB CEA claims the machine combines the features of a skid steer, a wheel loader and forklift into one compact package.
“This small telehandler achieves its extraordinary versatility because of JCB’s revolutionary offset single-spine chassis,” says JCB CEA National Product Manager for Telehandlers, Anthony Lockwood.
“Core strength of the machine is under the boom, while the chassis wraps around the cab, meaning the cab can be mounted lower than normal,” he explains.
The machine sits at just 1.8m for improved manoeuvrability and easier, safer cab access.
“Another plus is that we haven’t had to reduce the cab size or performance to achieve these benefits for the operator,” Lockwood adds.
The 516-40 features a Tier 3-compliant JCB Diesel by Kohler engine, producing 130Nm of torque at 1600 rpm. A joystick-mounted shuttle switch offers fast and easy directional control, and the single auxiliary service allows operators to control attachments that require hydraulic power.
“For ultimate traction in soft muddy areas, the 516-40 comes equipped with four-wheel-drive as standard, while a wide range of tyre options helps operators to work in many different environments,” Lockwood says.
Operators can raise 1600kg with the 516-40 throughout the lift arc of the boom, up to the full height of 4m. A 1000kg lift can be achieved at 2m forward reach, making it easy and safe for operators to load or unload trucks of brick or other heavy, packed materials.
“The machine is ideal for all applications where a compact machine is needed, from small scale farming, to construction and hire and rental, the 516-40 can work anywhere,” Lockwood says.
