JCB Fastrac 6000 Series makes Australian debut at Henty

All-new 300hp-plus tractor fills a gap in JCB’s Fastrac line-up

Sitting between JCB’s existing Fastrac 4000 and 8000 Series, the new 6000 Series targets high-output farmers and contractors looking for more power without giving up the versatility of four-wheel steering.

Two machines have so far landed in Australia, including the flagship Fastrac 6300 on display at the 2026 Henty Machinery Field Days, with more expected to arrive before Christmas as JCB ramps up local demonstrations.

Speaking to Farmmachinerysales at Henty, UK-based JCB Fastrac sales engineer, George Elliott, said the 6000 Series was designed to fill an obvious hole in the existing range.

“We had a gap in the range, and we were looking to fill that with a 300hp four-wheel steering machine,” Elliott said.

The Fastrac 6300 produces a rated power of 335hp from its 6.7-litre FPT engine, paired with a ZF four-range continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Top speed is 66km/h, sitting between the 60km/h capability of the 4000 Series and 70km/h of the larger 8000 Series.

But Elliott said the new tractor was about more than outright speed, with JCB focusing heavily on efficiency, comfort, safety and precision.

For Australian buyers, JCB sees the 6000 Series appealing particularly to high-output farmers and contractors running equipment such as larger seeders and cultivators.

“Farmers are going further for land, people are travelling further and they need a machine to match this,” Elliott said.

Plenty of muscle

The Fastrac 6300 offers a five-tonne front linkage lift capacity and an 11-tonne rear linkage capacity.

Standard hydraulic flow is 205l/min from twin hydraulic pumps, while a high-flow variant doubles that figure to 410l/min.

A new adjustable soft-start function has also been introduced for the rear PTO, which offers 540rpm and 1000rpm speeds as well as economy settings.

Operators can choose between three PTO engagement rates, with the softer setting designed to gradually engage equipment such as a large square baler or wood chipper and reduce strain on both the tractor and implement.

The tractor has a 475-litre diesel tank and 80-litre AdBlue tank, while engine oil service intervals extend to 1000 hours and transmission service intervals to 2000 hours.

Four-wheel steering gets smarter

Four-wheel steering is a key part of the new 6000 Series, with the system automatically adjusting according to speed.

Steering angle is progressively reduced as speed increases, before four-wheel steering is automatically disabled above 20km/h and the tractor switches to two-wheel steering.

JCB has also introduced a twin-steer guidance system, with two NovAtel receivers allowing the front and rear axles to be controlled independently.

Elliott said this could improve precision when working on banks or difficult terrain, while also making the system particularly relevant for operators working in high-value crops.

The 6000 Series can be equipped with JCB Guidance, while the system can also integrate with existing precision farming platforms including John Deere GreenStar and Trimble.

Another new addition is JCB’s own central tyre inflation system (CTIS), available as an option.

Controlled through the tractor’s main screen, the system allows operators to set separate field and road pressures and switch between them on the move.

According to Elliott, adding one bar of tyre pressure takes around 4.5 minutes and can be done while travelling at up to 66km/h, while dropping one bar takes around 40 seconds and must be carried out below 30km/h.

The idea is to make it easier for operators regularly moving between paddock and road to adjust pressures without losing time.

Comfort still key

Operator comfort remains a major part of the Fastrac formula, with the 6000 Series retaining JCB’s all-round independent suspension and centrally mounted cab.

The suspension system uses a ram on each corner of the tractor and continuously levels the machine according to changing loads and terrain.

For the 6000 Series, the suspension has been uprated with twin outlet ports on the rams to improve damping performance and create a smoother ride.

Elliott said the system also helps with precision work by keeping the cab – and therefore the roof-mounted GPS receiver – stable when travelling at higher speeds over rough terrain.

The braking system has also been updated, with ABS disc brakes and a new single-caliper set-up.

JCB has also introduced brake pad wear indicators, which alert the operator through the dash when the pads are wearing.

Inside the cab

Inside, the 6000 Series carries JCB’s iCON control system, integrating the armrest, configurable joystick controls and touchscreen display.

The system includes a new Layout Manager function, allowing operators to create up to six custom display pages combining functions such as ISOBUS controls, GPS mapping, PTO speed and linkage information.

Individual work profiles can also be created for different implements, with settings automatically saved to the relevant profile rather than having to reconfigure the tractor each time equipment is changed.

Another handy addition is a new push-button start-stop system.

When the engine is switched off, the screens remain active for 15 minutes, meaning an operator stopping to fill a seeder, for example, can restart without waiting for the GPS and other electronics to reload.

A sensor in the cab door also starts waking up the tractor’s display as soon as the door is opened, reducing the time spent waiting for the electronics to load before getting underway.

For those working after dark, the 6300 can also be optioned with JCB’s 360 lighting package, which adds three spotlights at both the front and rear of the cab.

Operators can create two lighting presets through the touchscreen, while individual work lights can be linked to certain functions including automatically switching on when the tractor is put into reverse.

The two Fastrac 6000 Series tractors currently in Australia will continue touring field days and undertaking demonstrations, with more machines expected to arrive between now and Christmas.

Elliott confirmed Australian customers can order the new tractors now, with further machines set to make their way around JCB’s dealer network for demonstrations.

The 6000 Series has already been recognised overseas, including taking out a sustainability award at Tractor of the Year and an award at the UK’s LAMMA machinery show.

Elliott said improvements including the twin-steer system, tyre inflation technology and new transmission were all designed to make the tractor more efficient and productive.

“The 6000 Series has just built on what we do well and are well known for and has just brought Fastrac onto another level,” he said.
