JCB launches 525-60E electric telehandler

Battery powered telehandler is quiet yet powerful, JCB said.

JCB is further changing the construction landscape with its latest release, the 525-60E electric telehandler that produces no emissions and no noise for a clean and comfortable operation, the company said.

The 525-60E is the latest in a series of electric machinery released by JCB in Australia, which included a mini excavator and a site dumper. The 525-60E features all the capacities and capabilities of its diesel counterpart, the 525-60, except it is extremely quiet and makes next to no noise, JCB said.

Powered by a 24kWh lithium-ion battery, the telehandler is designed for a full day’s work on a single charge, JCB added.

The 525-60E uses the same on-board charger as other JCB E-TECH products, capable of recharging the battery in eight hours using a standard 240V, 16A electrical supply. An optional JCB Universal Charger can be used for a rapid top-up during breaks, in as little as 35 minutes.

The 525-60E has a maximum lift capacity of 2500kg and a maximum lift height of 6m.  Two electric motors power the machine - one for the driveline and the second to power the hydraulic system.

The 17kW traction motor drives through a permanent four-wheel drive dropbox, to JCB drive/steer axles. The 22kW hydraulic system motor powers a fixed displacement gear pump, delivering a maximum 80l/min of flow.

The absence of an internal combustion engine allows operators to carry out work no matter the time of the day in even the most noise-sensitive areas, JCB said.

Safety is a huge part of the 525-60E. It is equipped with adaptive load control to prevent tipping during heavy loads and its reduced noise levels enhance on-site communication.

The cab is certified with ROPS and FOPS for operator protection. Exceptional visibility from the cab allows operators to work with confidence while advanced safety systems offer peace of mind for both workers and management, JCB said.

Maintenance is also kept to an absolute minimum with the removal of the combustion engine. The battery is maintenance free while service intervals are extended. By integrating JCB’s LiveLink telematics, running costs can be managed effectively, giving businesses greater control over their operations.

“The launch of the JCB 525-60E Loadall takes equipment electrification further into general construction, industrial, and agricultural markets, offering a zero-emissions load handling solution with no compromise in performance or productivity,” said JCB’s Chief Innovation Officer, Tim Burnhope.

“We are very excited about the prospects for this machine.”
