JCB’s new Fastrac 'icon' range

Highlighted by a sophisticated, integrated electronics package that’s designed to take the bespoke operator experience to new levels

JCB has launched new Fastrac 4000 and 8000 Series tractors with electronics infrastructure that has the smarts to offer operators unprecedented choice in the way they operate their machine.

Through this tailored, operator-first approach, Fastrac’s ‘iCon environment’ – iConfigure, iConnect and iControl – includes the following tech features:

  • A new iCON armrest console with position-adjustable 12-inch colour touchscreen display
  • Optional integrated ISOBUS for efficient touch-screen implement control
  • Fully integrated GPS guidance and precision farming application options
  • ‘Smart’ transmission control for added powertrain efficiency and operator comfort
  • Unique choice of ‘classic’ and ‘pro’ joystick transmission control formats
  • Multi-function auxiliary joystick with configurable buttons, rocker and x-y hydraulic controls
  • Memory for up to 50 different control profiles for different machines and operators
  • Turn assist with up to 50 individual sequences
  • New automatic climate control with solar load and temperature monitoring

JCB Agriculture Managing Director, John Smith, said: “We had three major objectives with this important project for the JCB Fastrac: to create a bespoke operator experience; integrate electronics technology such as ISOBUS and GPS guidance; and redefine the already high level of operator control and driving comfort that the Fastrac offers.

“At the same time, we wanted to maintain a familiarity in terms of the controls and information displays to ensure existing users can quickly adapt to the new system. Feedback from our extensive development and testing work with evaluation customers shows we have achieved all of these objectives, making the Fastrac an even more attractive proposition in terms of performance, productivity and operator appeal.”

The transmission control allows operators to set required speed, and the tractor then factors in all the variables – including changing load – to select the optimal gear ratio.

For added convenience, the joystick and pedal driving modes no longer have to be pre-selected – they are automatically selected when either control is used. When using the joystick, operators can choose between two input configurations – Classic or Pro – when controlling the transmission.

Inside the cabin, there’s a utility tray and cup holder, storage box and cargo nets, as well as an underseat drawer.

There’s a USB port in the radio head for media, two charging USBs in the utility tray, and a data transfer USB port in the armrest cubby.

For ultimate comfort, a top-specification air suspension seat has been introduced with both heating and ventilation functions. It’s available as part of the Field Pro and new Pro Line option packs.

The latter is available when front linkage is fitted, and adds a number of cab enhancements along with LED road and auxiliary headlights, twin beacons and a road package comprising hill hold and 2WD traction control.
