John Deere is adding two new models to its 6R utility workhorse line-up – the 230hp 6230R and 250hp 6250R to meet the needs of contractors and arable farmers.
Both new models are powered by a 6.8-litre PowerTech PSS engine with dual turbochargers, diesel particulate filter (DPF) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology to help meet Final Tier 4 engine emission standards.
With the Intelligent Power Management (IPM) technology, power output can be boosted by an extra 50hp, giving the 6250R up to 300hp of engine power when required.
The AutoPowr transmission system has been upgraded to provide 100 per cent mechanical power at 3.5 km/h for heavy draft operations, 11 km/h for light draft work, 22.5 km/h for heavy transport and 47.2 km/h for light transport duties. Once running at maximum road speed, RPM automatically drops and 50 km/h is maintained at 1630 RPM and 40 km/h at 1300 RPM, resulting in lower fuel consumption on the road.
Maximum hydraulic flow for the new 6R Series tractors is a powerful 160l/min at 1500 RPM. Up to six selective control valves (SCVs) with individual pressure-relief levers have been grouped together for easier access. Lift capacity for the 6230R and 6250R is 10.4 tonnes on the rear hitch and five tonnes at the front.
The premium 6R models have been equipped with a hydro-pneumatic cab suspension (HCS Plus) system that isolates drivers from noise and vibration, hence offering better driving comfort.
John Deere has also installed a new self-levelling TLS Plus Triple-Link Suspension system on the front axle to give better traction and up to 10 per cent more power applied to the ground. It automatically adjusts sensitivity and suspension rate, and synchronises with hitch sensing to compensate for power hop under heavy draft conditions.
An all-new CommandPRO joystick is available in the cab as an optional extra. The new technology has been introduced to offer a new level of ergonomics and versatility to operators. Top speed can be reached with one push, and 11 programmable buttons are available for a range of functions including hitch, PTO, SCVs, and AutoTrac.
The CommandPRO also allows the tractor to be controlled from top speed to zero with a simple push or pull of the joystick, and lower speeds from 0 to 2 km/h can be achieved with the creeper control function. Both the joystick and pedals can be operated at the same time, and there is no need for an external ISOBUS joystick as the driver can operate the tractor and ISOBUS functions simultaneously.
The 6250R features a light vehicle weight of just 9.3 tonnes and allows a 5.7 tonne payload.
