Kuhn's self-loading fully automatic square bale wrapper, the SW 4014, is now available in Australia.
The model made its debut at the world's largest agricultural machinery trade fair, Agritechnica, in Germany last year.
The machine features a unique AutoLoad function that allows for non-stop wrapping of bales and was awarded a silver medal for innovation at Agritechnica 2015.
In addition to wrapping square bales of different sizes, it is also capable of wrapping round bales, hence making it a very versatile machine, Kuhn says.
The AutoLoad technology provides non-stop bale wrapping without interference from the driver. It automatically detects approaching bales, scans the length of the bale and sets the loading arms into pre-load position.
After wrapping, it unloads the bale automatically and re-adjusts its arms to receive the next incoming bale – resulting in a seamless cycle that greatly increases productivity.
Kuhn says it has designed the SW 4014 to be solid and stable yet manoeuvrable too. It has an operational width of 4m on the field and 2.5m for transport.
The SW 4014 is capable of wrapping large square, medium square and round bales up to 1500kg and with a maximum bale length of 200cm.
A pair of patented steel rollers holding the film is positioned as low as possible to allow more accurate wrapping of the bale with less wrinkling and with enough oxygen for better silage quality.
Advanced ISOBUS controls in the cab give operators more control over their baling operation, such as choosing to unload the bales in selected positions (eg knots on top, unload at short side).
Kuhn adds the SW 4014 has a low oil flow requirement of 45lt (maximum 60lt) and can therefore be operated with a wide range of tractors.
The Kuhn SW 4014 is priced at $94,273 ex GST and is available in Australia now.
