KUHN said the arrival of its Optimer XL 12000 on Australian shores has upped the ante in the local tillage sector.
Designed for stubble cultivation, trash management, soil levelling and destroying green cover crops, KUHN's Optimer XL 12000 offers a host of new and innovative features designed to improve the efficiency and quality of work it performs, KUHN said.
The Optimer XL 12000 is available in mounted or trailed models with a working width of 12m and working depths between five to 15cm. This enables the machine to carry out both shallow stubble cultivation (five to 8cm) and median stubble ploughing (eight to 15cm), depending on the operation and its requirements.
There are 96 discs on the Optimer XL 12000 each with a diameter of 620mm. Each disc is 6mm thick which, according to KUHN, gives them a 20 per cent longer life compared to 5mm thick discs.
The standout point of the Optimer XL 12000 is its design of only one disc per arm, which combined with its high underbeam clearance of 91cm, reduces the risk of clogging even in heavy residue such as grain, corn and manure, KUHN said.
The discs have a conical profile and are angled at 12 degrees vertical and 14 degrees horizontal, which ensures rigorous mixing and the same penetration level regardless of disc wear.
Another notable feature on the Optimer XL 12000 is the Steady Control system which ensures better ground following. The system works by chanelling the oil between the tractor and the extension cylinders without pressure variations. The pressure on the extension cylinders is hydraulically controlled to ensure that the discs penetrate in all conditions.
The Optimer XL 12000 features five sections and four gauge wheels that allow it to follow ground contours with ease and ensure a consistent and homogenous cultivation over the entire field.
Weighing in at 13.7 tonnes, the Optimer XL 1200 requires a minimum of 480hp to operate. The ideal operating speed is 15km/h that will allow it to cover up to 18 hectares an hour, KUHN added.
The machine can be folded to a width of just 3m wide and 4m high to fulfill transportation requirements, allowing the cultivator to be transported from farm to farm without an escort.
The Optimer XL 12000 is available with a variety of rollers, including tube roller, T-ring roller, V-Liner roller and double-U roller to provide a clean and levelled finish.
