KUHN VB7100 high spec high density baler touches down

Range-topping high capacity baler series caters to broadacre farmers and contractors

KUHN’s latest baler series, the VB7100 is jam packed with the latest technology to tick the boxes of contractors looking for higher output and better quality bales, KUHN said.

The VB7100 series' ability to produce bale densities of up to 140kg/m3 in straw is thanks to a new patented i-DENSE technology featuring an intelligent twin tension arm system and an intelligent moisture sensor, the company said.

The moisture sensor and twin tension arm system work in tandem to automatically adjust baling pressure according to the different crops and crop conditions without driver interference, increasing productivity.

The baler was recently shown to the public for the first time at the Fodder Festival in March this year, held in Elmore, Victoria.

“The VB 7100 series is about ensuring Australian farmers and contractors have high performing systems that save time and ensure the economical use of your baler without compromising on performance,” said KUHN Australia marketing manager, Michael Murer.

“Baling up to 30 tonnes of dry product per hour, with minimum downtime, the machine was designed with extreme durability in mind ensuring robustness and reliability,” he said.

The bale chamber features a four-belt design that KUHN said ensures fast, consistent bale formation in any crop condition. The twin tension arm system also allowed the baler to achieve the fastest tailgate operation in the market at four seconds, according to KUHN.

The integrated rotor has been updated with a new W-shape design that ensures better flow and throughput from all sides of the rotor. The rotor tines are made from Hardox steel for durability.

Customers can equip the baler with 14 or 23 knives for chopping if required.

An innovative net binding system lets operators load the net from both sides of the machine. New KUHN patented support brackets allow users to slide the net rolls easily from storage into the binder without having to lift the entire roll. In addition, operators can do all that at ground level without having to climb up the machine, hence improving safety.

The two models in the VB 7100 series, the 7160 and 7190, produce 1.60m and 1.85m round bales. Both are fully ISOBUS compatible, allowing the machines to be controlled via ISOBUS tractor terminals, or on CCI 50 or CCI 1200 terminals supplied by KUHN.

Pricing for the KUHN VB7100 baler series starts from $110,000.

“Contractors and big corporate farmers know that this price can be justified quite easily when you keep baling during the day and get the higher throughput with this baler,” Murer said.
