Faresin Industries' Leader Ecomode 3300 self-propelled mixer wagon, currently the biggest in its range, recently made its Australian debut at the 2016 AgQuip field days.
Distributed by Chesterfield Australia, the Italian-made wagon has been designed to cater for large feedlots.
"What we have here is a machine that is aimed purely at large commercial operations with a prime focus to feed all day, every day while reducing on-farm costs," says Chesterfield Australia General Manager for Business Development, Luke Rowney.
The self-propelled Leader Ecomode 3300 features a cab at the front with ergonomic controls and air-conditioning to provide a comfortable working environment for the operator.
A self-loading milling arm eliminates the need for any loading equipment such as telehandlers or loaders. It is capable of picking up material from ground level through to a height of 6.6m.
"It’s ideally able to pick up bales of hay off the ground or work through a wall of silage," Rowney says.
From the milling arm, feed material is delivered to the mixer at a rate of 3.3 cubic metres per minute. Double vertical augers made of high strength steel in the 33 cubic metre mixer bowl chop and mix the feed at variable speeds of up to 50RPM, depending on the mode selection.
The Ecomode 3300 is a four wheel drive unit with three steer modes - front steer only, four wheel steer, or crab steer. A three speed hydrostatic transmission allows the operator to control the speed of the machine from creep to 40km/h for road transport.
An Iveco Stage IIIB engine powers the mixer wagon, offering 250hp to drive three separate propulsion systems – the drive, the augers and the self-loading milling arm.
"We also installed the engine at the back in a clean environment, away from the feed material and away from the operator to reduce noise," Rowney says.
Full hydraulic suspension allows the Ecomode to navigate undulating terrain with ease and provide operators with a comfortable ride.
Material can be fed out from either side of the wagon via rubber discharge elevators.
Camera kits are fitted in and around the machine to give operators clear views of the mixing process within the bowl.
Faresin's Leader Ecomode self-propelled mixer wagon range is available in different sizes starting from 18 cubic metres all the way up to 33 cubic metres.
"This range of mixer wagon eliminates any further machine-related costs on farm because it’s self-loading and self-propelled, as opposed to trailing models," Rowney says.
"It reduces labour costs as you don’t need extra people driving other machines, and it also reduces your fuel costs because there's only one machine that you have to operate.
"So it’s the lowering of on-farm costs that we are trying to achieve with the Ecomode."
From AgQuip, the Faresin Leader Ecomode 3300 will make its way around northern NSW and southern QLD for a round of demonstrations before heading back to Glen Innes in the New England (NSW) region.
Customers can pre-order the machines now and expect delivery within three months of ordering. Pricing for the Leader Ecomode range starts from $280,000 for the base model.
The 3300 is expected to cost just over $400,000.
