MacDon has unveiled its FD2 flex draper which it claims offers significant capacity, flex and speed improvements over its predecessor.
The FD2 features an all new frame that has an ultra-deep deck with 50-inch deep drapers and is now available in 30 to 50 foot configurations.
As a result, MacDon claims the FD2 can deliver up to 20 per cent more capacity than the original FlexDraper when it comes to heads-first feeding in the toughest crops. It also features several of MacDon’s advanced harvesting tech including the FeedMax Crop Feeding System, active crop flow, patented reel movement and new ShatterGuard reel positioning.
MacDon has also designed the FD2 to offer up to 70 per cent more flex and ground-following capabilities compared to its predecessor. Patented tech such as the Active Float System and Flex-Float Technology significantly contributes to the FD2’s flexibility improvements, MacDon said.
Optional ContourMax Contour Wheels are available to further enhance the FD2’s ground-following ability. According to MacDon, these wheels allow the header to follow the field's contours closely to leave a consistent stubble height while cutting from one to 18 inches off the ground.
In addition, MacDon claims the FD2 is 30 per cent faster than the previous model at cutting crops, thanks to the new ClearCut High-Speed Cutting System and improved knife drive with more power and new knife section geometry. Customers can choose between two ClearCut Knife Guards - Pointed Knife Guards or PlugFree Knife Guards to offer a clean and smooth cut.
