Magic million for French Massey Ferguson plant
Massey Ferguson’s plant in Beauvais, France, recently produced its 1,000,000th tractorIn the year in which ag giant Massey Ferguson is celebrating its 175th anniversary, the company recently marked yet another major milestone at its Beauvais tractor plant in France, where the factory’s millionth tractor has rolled off the line.
It was a proud moment for the site, located approximately 75 kilometres north of Paris, which has been manufacturing tractors since 1960. It currently produces around 20,000 tractors each year.
“Our Beauvais Massey Ferguson Global Home has grown continuously over the past 62 years, working with and for farmers,” said Thierry Lhotte, Vice-President & Managing Director Massey Ferguson EAME and President of AGCO in France.
“On behalf of all our employees I want to thank our customers for their everlasting trust. We are particularly proud to have them represented today by the owner of this brand-new MF 8S.305 Dyna-VT, the 1,000,000th tractor produced in Beauvais, Mr Thierry Aubrée, arable farmer and contractor, in the village of La Chapelle des Fougeretz in Brittany, France, and his local Dealer Hervé Motoculture.”
The Beauvais facility started out by manufacturing the MF 825 in 1960, the site growing continuously as it produced more and more tractors driven by innovation. These included, among many others, the MF 3000 series in 1986, the first tractor to feature on-board electronics, and the MF 8600 in 2008, which had the first SCR system to be fitted to an ag machine.
The site produces and ships up to 100 tractors each day, with 80 per cent of them exported to any of over 70 countries. The factory produces the MF 4700M, MF 5700M, MF 5S, MF 6S, MF 7S, MF 8S and MF 8700S, spanning ratings from 75hp to 405hp and all types of transmissions.
Mr Lhotte said the site would continue to evolve and grow in the years ahead.
“As we handover this 1,000,000th tractor, we are about to unify our sites into one single 54ha MF Campus with all our departments under one roof: Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Customer Support, Parts, Sales & Marketing, Product Management, Finance, Legal and HR,” he said.
“This offers high flexibility, and the unique experience, skills and commitment of the people who work here. They are the driving force behind everything that happens and this 1,000,000th tractor milestone is our 2500 employees’ success.”
