Another Tractor of the Year awards is done and dusted, but not as we know it. As with everything else this year, the awards presentation was conducted entirely online and was supported by its new sponsor, BKT Tyres.
After months of consideration, a panel of judges has awarded Massey Ferguson the Tractor of the Year award for its brand new 8S.265 which was launched to much fanfare in July this year.
The judges cited its comfort level and technology package as the deciding factors for its win.
The 8S.265 is the range-topping model of the 8S series which Massey Ferguson said is a completely new line-up boasting its highest level of connectivity yet. What that means is the tractors can almost double up as the farmers’ offices, allowing them to send and receive operation data without having to leave the cab.
In addition, the tractors feature the newest engines that comply with the latest engine emissions standards, as well as the latest dual-clutch transmission for efficient transfer of power to the ground.
In addition to the main award, three other awards were presented to the following manufacturers:
Best Utility – Valtra G 135 Versu
Best of Specialised – Fendt 211 Vario
Sustainable TOTY- CLAAS AXION 960 Cemos
This means it's a near clean sweep for AGCO, which owns Valtra, Massey Ferguson and Fendt.
“I am absolutely taken aback by the research, by the incredible solutions developed in terms of technology, all focused on environmental and economic sustainability,” said BKT Europe CEO, Lucia Salmaso.
“We could say that the winner today is the future.”
