Massey Ferguson has expanded its MF 5S tractor line-up in Australia and New Zealand with the introduction of its Dyna-VT continuously variable transmission.
The new Dyna-VT models join the existing Dyna-4 and Dyna-6 versions, giving buyers an additional transmission choice across the utility tractor range.
Available on all five MF 5S models from 105hp to 145hp in Efficient and Exclusive specifications, the Dyna-VT uses a single-range continuously variable transmission offering stepless travel speeds from 0.1km/h to 40km/h.
Essential specification models will continue to be offered with the Dyna-4 or Dyna-6 transmissions.
Massey Ferguson ANZ product marketing manager, Chris Bain, said the new option would broaden the appeal of the MF 5S range beyond its established loader applications.

“Our multi-award-winning MF 5S series models have a strong reputation as the best loader tractors, but their capability, flexibility and high specification mean they are increasingly selected for grassland and arable field tasks too,” Bain said.
“The new Dyna-VT transmission option adds even greater appeal to this successful series, and the extra comfort, efficiency and ease of use has been welcomed by customers and dealers worldwide.”
Operators can control travel speed using the accelerator pedal, hand throttle or Power Control lever, while the tractor can reach its maximum 40km/h speed with the engine running at 1550rpm.
Two virtual speed ranges can be stored and selected through the Transmission Control Lever, with separate forward and reverse start-off speeds and two cruise control speeds also able to be set.
Parklock is standard, automatically applying the parking brake through the Power Control shuttle lever – a feature designed to assist with frequent stop-start work.

In automatic mode, the tractor manages engine revs and transmission ratio according to the selected travel speed and working load. Operators can also create bespoke virtual speed ranges for specific jobs, allowing finer control during tasks such as loader work and baling.
Drive engagement can also be adjusted to suit different applications, ranging from gentler engagement for precise loader work to faster engagement where quicker manoeuvring and cycle times are required.
The changes extend beyond the transmission, with Dyna-VT models also receiving new front and rear axles, a new hydraulic system and a new rear linkage and hitch.
All five models feature a 2.55m wheelbase and offer a 6000kg rear linkage lift capacity, while an optional front linkage can lift 3000kg.
The tractors also carry a maximum gross vehicle weight of 9000kg and a gross combination weight rating of 41,000kg, subject to local restrictions.
A load-sensing hydraulic system delivers 110 litres/min of flow to support loader work and hydraulic implements, while up to 41 litres of removable oil capacity is available.

A three-speed PTO with 540, 540 Eco and 1000rpm settings is standard. The 540 Eco setting operates at an engine speed of 1560rpm, designed to reduce fuel consumption, noise and wear when working with implements requiring less power.
The MF 5S Dyna-VT range is also available with Massey Ferguson's Smart Farming solutions, including Datatronic 5 and Fieldstar 5 touchscreen terminals.
Massey Ferguson says the Dyna-VT models retain the same service intervals as the existing Dyna-4 and Dyna-6 versions, including 600-hour engine oil and 2400-hour transmission oil change intervals, and are backed by a factory warranty.
