Massey Ferguson introduces up-spec MF 8S Xtra series

Massey Ferguson’s upped the MF 8S ante, introducing a six-model MF 8S Xtra range with new styling, increased efficiency, greater operator comfort and an enhanced service and warranty package.

While the Xtra models retain key features of the MF 8S’s neo-retro design, they are distinguishable by a black front grille, matt black bonnet side panels and a more streamlined exhaust.

The MF 8S Xtra line-up encompasses outputs from 205 to 305hp from the AGCO Power 7.4-litre engine, in a window “where demand for tractors is strong and user expectations are high” according to Anthony Morgan, Product Marketing Manager, HHP Massey Ferguson ANZ.

“While updating this series, Massey Ferguson consulted new and existing customers as well as dealers to ensure it has the capability to not only satisfy, but also to exceed the requirements of farmers and contractors worldwide.

“With the MF 8S Xtra, owners are getting more than just a tractor: this is a dependable and reliable partner with a specification and the latest technology to suit their modern agricultural needs.”

Technology upgrades on the Xtra models include MF AutoTurn, MF Section Control for automatic control of up to 96 sections, and AEF Isobus certification.

A central tyre inflation system is available through MF By You – Massey Ferguson’s customisation centre – while there’s MF Rate Control to automatically vary application rates and MF Connect telemetry to provide rapid data transfer.

New fan control software boosts efficiency, while an optional reversible fan maximises cooling performance and reduces maintenance.

Inside the cab, a new steering wheel distinguishes the MF 8S Xtra from its predecessor, while there is now access to a wide range of media through a new entertainment pack. An Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible wireless terminal is mounted on the right-hand cab rail.

A dual-motion option seat, electrically adjusted external rear-view mirrors, a rear window demister and a revised microphone position are also key Xtra cabin traits.

First available on the MF 9S flagship range, a new 360-degree LED lighting pack is now also an option for all MF 8S Xtra models. The lighting set includes 20 LED work lights, providing up to 51,500 lumens of lighting power – 17,400 lumens more than the 8S.
