Massey Ferguson has delivered a late year bonanza for Australian and New Zealand farmers with the launch of the new 5S and 6S tractor platforms based on its ‘new era’ design principles of enhanced user experience, connectivity and smart farming.
Using the company’s flagship 8S series as the mainstay of design, the new ranges offer five separate models, with the 5S line-up powered by a 4.4-litre four-cylinder engine offering maximum power from 105 to 145hp and corresponding torque from 440 to 530Nm.
There are two ‘Dyna’ in-house transmissions to choose from, as well as ‘Essential’ or ‘Efficient’ spec levels which include a range of performance and comfort-enhancing features to suit a range of applications.
The 6S range follows a similar trajectory, although with a larger capacity 4.9-litre engine, the maximum outputs extend from 135 to 180hp and 650 to 840Nm in what Massey Ferguson claims are best-in-class power and torque-to-weight ratios. All models are equipped with Engine Power Management (EPM) providing between 15hp or 20hp extra power, up to 200hp.
There’s also a continuously variable transmission available in the 6S range.
“Massey Ferguson set the sector benchmark with the first ever 200hp, four-cylinder tractor," said Massey Ferguson HHP and Specialty Tractors Marketing Product Manager Australia and New Zealand, Raph Hymus.
"The new MF 6S Series now provides a complete package of comfort, control and connectivity that aligns with the award-winning MF 8S to this important and unique market segment.
“Meanwhile, the versatile MF 5S builds on the high-performance, comfort and agility we’ve come to expect from Massey Ferguson’s iconic steep bonnet design. The new MF 5S makes the best better. Exceptional visibility and unique features make them the ultimate loader tractors.”
