Massey unleashes new sub-compact rigs

Massey Ferguson has announced the addition of the new MF GC 1723E and 1725M models to its GC 1700 series sub-compact tractor range, replacing the previous MF GC 1705, 1715 and 1720 models.

According to Massey Ferguson compact tractors product manager, Simon Van Kruining, the styling and efficiency upgrades will make the new units easy to own and a pleasure to operate.

“There are specification options to suit most users which will make them ideal for grounds-care and farm work, whether the job is commercial or residential, we’re confident the new range will get the job done efficiently,” he said.

A 3-cylinder, liquid-cooled diesel engine gives the GC 1723E an output of 23hp and the GC 1725M an output of 25hp.

Access to the engine is via a functional, solid metal hood with a tilt up design. The radiator and radiator fan are strategically placed behind the engine, pulling hot air away from the operator, keeping both the operator and engine cooler.

Massey Ferguson has also redesigned the operator station based on customer feedback to improve overall comfort and productivity. Some new features include an all new flat floor design for ease of ingress and egress, a new ergonomically designed seat with adjustable armrests, adjustable tilt steering and covered storage compartments.

The hydraulic joystick is now placed to the right of the front console, putting the control lever within easy reach of the operator. A safety lockout lever prevents the operator from accidentally bumping the joystick or operating the hydraulics when in the locked position.

The loader quick-attach design allows the operator to effortlessly remove and install attachments.

The GC 1700 series features a two-range hydrostatic transmission with variable speeds from zero to top speed in each range.

Hydrostatic foot pedals are located on the right side of the platform, while the brake pedal is on the left. The foot pedals are spring-loaded and designed to return to a neutral position when released.

There is also a cruise control function located on the front dash panel that can be activated by pushing down on the orange handle once the desired speed is reached. Pulling up on the handle or pressing any foot pedal will disengage the cruise control.

The new GC 1700 models are available with a wide range of attachments including an optional front loader, an optional 54-inch mowing deck, and an optional self-standing backhoe.
