Tasmania’s largest agricultural field days, Agfest, has had its dates moved from its traditional timeframe in May to late August next year due to concerns on running a safe and economically viable event in May, according to the show’s organisers.
The new dates are August 24 to 27, 2022.
Event organiser, Rural Youth Organisation of Tasmania, said the decision was made after consultation with key stakeholders including exhibitors and sponsors as well as the Tasmanian Government.
“The decision to postpone the event to August was not taken lightly by the Agfest Committee,” said Agfest Committee Chairman, Caine Evans.
“But we recognise that the safety of our volunteers, staff, exhibitors, sponsors, and patrons is of the upmost importance as is holding a financially successful event for our exhibitors.
“Our volunteers and staff are dedicated and ready to go to ensure Agfest 2022 in August is a great event for all.”
Exhibitor applications have also been postponed and will reopen on February 1, 2022, and close on February 28, 2022.
