Ag-machinery giant New Holland has claimed its second world record by harvesting an impressive 16,157 bushels of soybean in eight hours with the CR8.90 combine in early April.
The stint took place in the Bahia State of Brazil, and was certified by independent adjudicator RankBrasil.
It follows New Holland's successful world record attempt in 2014, in which it managed to harvest a whopping 29,321 bushels of wheat in eight hours – a record it holds to this day.
"Setting the world record for harvesting 16,157 bushels of soybeans is an achievement we’re very proud of and it demonstrates the power and productivity of the CR8.90," says New Holland Director of Product Marketing North America, Dan Valen.
"Similar to the CR10.90 smashing the World Record for wheat harvesting in 2014, the CR8.90 delivered an exceptional performance in setting this record. Both of these accomplishments reinforce the New Holland CR Series and Twin Rotor technology as best-in-class, worldwide."
The record was set on April 5, 2017 at the Villa Panambi farm, belonging to the Mingori Brothers, in the Bahia State of Brazil, with the support of their dealer Jaraguá Bahia which is based in nearby Luiz Eduardo Magalhães City.
On the day, moisture was high due to 19mm of rain at 5am, and temperature ranged from 25 to 28 degrees Celsius. Harvesting started at 10.30am and finished at 5.30pm, with New Holland successfully covering approximately 222 acres of ground.
The CR8.90’s average throughput was 2,020bsh/h in a crop yielding an average of 72.6 bsh/acre, and 17 per cent average moisture content. It harvested 73.5bsh of soybean per gallon of fuel.
The record was entirely overseen and verified by an official adjudicator from independent organization RankBrasil, which certified the record.
Some key features of New Holland's CR combines include the Twin Rotor technology which the company says offers best-in-class productivity, efficiency and grain quality; IntelliSteer auto guidance; Twin Pitch Plus rotor technology that serves to improve capacity in high moisture conditions; and the optional Dynamic Feed Roll with integrated dynamic stone protection.
