New Holland GENESIS T8 tractor preview video

Next generation high horsepower tractors feature a range of smarts and connectivity features never before seen in previous line-ups

New Holland has given visitors to the 2019 AgQuip field days a sneak preview of its latest workhorse – the GENESIS T8 with Precision Land Management (PLM) Intelligence.

The tractor is not due for official release until mid-2020 but New Holland decided to have it out on display to gauge interest and receive feedback which the company will use to develop its final production model.

“This tractor is quite different to what we currently got,” said New Holland Australia broad acre equipment product segment manager, Marc Smith.

“We're dealing with a lot of new systems, ways that customer will interact with this tractor and interact with other people outside their business with this tractor,” he said.

“So we just want to make sure that we build a nice solid foundation before we go to market with the tractor.”

A defining feature of the new generation T8 is the connectivity functions it offers, which allow customers to communicate with key personnel such as their employees, agronomists, dealers and more quickly and effectively.

The PLM Intelligence platform comes completely integrated with the new T8 tractors.

“It offers customers the ability to share agronomic data with agronomists, for example,” Smith said.

“From a dealer perspective, it allows for remote servicing. So a dealer could actually dial into this tractor from wherever they are and look at the remote diagnostics service.”

In addition, the cab has been completely revamped to offer higher levels of comfort and productivity for operators, New Holland said.

“The reimagined cab design offers the most comfortable and convenient driver experience, and next-generation intuitive controls that can be easily customised to the tasks at hand,” Smith said.

A new SideWinder Ultra armrest gives operators all the controls they need at their fingertips and is adjustable to suit operators' needs.

Other additional features include more accessible storage, increased power ports and vents, egress lights, and an ergonomic seat for optimal comfort.

New 360-degree LED work lights give better visibility for when working in low light conditions.

New Holland is currently testing and developing the T8 range in the hopes of launching it into the market in the back end of 2020.

“I think it's going to be fairly exciting when we do get this product out into the field,” Smith said.

“I think customers are going to be quite excited by it.”
