In 2014, New Holland’s CR10.90 combine harvested a whopping 798-tonnes of wheat in just eight hours, hence earning itself a place in the Guinness World Records. Earlier this year, its CR8.90 model claimed another world record for 'Most Soybean Harvested in Eight Hours'.
In 2018, New Holland is upping the ante by releasing the CR Revelation combine series, which will be a step up from its record-smashing CR range.
Some key upgrades include increased power, an improved adjustable crop flow, and a redesigned residue management system.
According to New Holland, the improvements will deliver a 10 per cent increase in harvesting capacity.
“The CR combine already holds the world record for harvesting, it’s the most powerful combine in the market with the highest capacity,” says New Holland Combine Product Manager for ANZ, Marc Smith.
“But at New Holland we are constantly looking for ways to improve our customers’ productivity and profitability. With the new CR Revelation range we have achieved this.
“The control of crop flow has been improved, helping our customers increase their productivity; we increased capacity and residue management performance. And with the new styling we improved visibility and serviceability.”
New cab-controlled rotor vanes feature infinitely variable positions between slow and fast which produces excellent crop flow control and power efficiency. This feature is offered standard on all 22-inch models at the top of the range.
An in-cab concave reset allows operators to reset the concave easily in case of a breakaway. The operator simply empties the rotors, stops the combine, rearms the concaves automatically and resumes harvest, reducing downtime.
The three models at the top of the range feature optional Twin Pitch Plus rotors with 3-inch raspbars, which deliver power efficiency gains ranging from 20kW in the CR8.90 to 28kW in the range-topping CR10.90.
New Holland has also given the CR combines a power boost, with the CR10.90 Revelation model now boasting up to 700hp of output.
Combined with other improvements that include higher rotor covers on the two smaller 17-inch models and a deep cut Dynamic Feed Roll (DFR) that comes standard on the two flagship models – the CR9.90 & CR10.90, the CR Revelation models are set to deliver up to 10 per cent increase in productivity, New Holland says.
The new CR Revelation combines feature a new residue management system designed to deliver a finer chop, wider spread and better distribution.
New Holland has made several improvements to the chopper, including adding a reinforced rotor and longer counter knives; and increasing the chopper speed to produce a finer sample and a 50 per cent reduction of long straw.
The chaff spreader has been entirely redesigned with a patented air crop flow system replacing the traditional impact-based design. The spreading width has been increased to 45ft and is adjustable from the cab.
The Opti-Spread straw management system has been further improved with 25 per cent stronger hydromotors, V-shaped paddles and cleaning scrapers. New Holland says this results in a wider, 45ft spread, better spread distribution and reduced wear.
The main frame, grain pan and beater grate have been painted yellow to provide better visibility in the cleaning shoe.
The colour of the grain tank has also changed to yellow to improve visibility from the cab and make it easier for the operator to check the grain quality at all times.
