John Deere has lifted the covers off its new 6M series tractors that will replace the previous 6M, 6MC and 6RC series.
The new line-up will include three new four-cylinder models from 90 to 120hp, featuring a 2.4m wheelbase.
According to John Deere, this is the most compact 6M Series it has offered. A low bonnet design presents a clear view to the front of the machine, while a slimmer steering wheel cowl and newly designed panoramic window in the cab roof provides full visibility for loader work.
The shorter wheelbase offers improved manoeuvrability on the new 6M models, allowing a tight turning circle of 4.35m, John Deere said. Despite its compact design, the units have a maximum permissible gross weight of 10.45 tonnes and a payload capacity of up to 4.7 tonnes.
John Deere has redesigned the cab on the 6M series to offer a more modern appearance, better operating comfort with a noise rating of 70dB(A) and more ergonomic controls.
All the important operating functions are located on the right-hand panel, which has been completely redesigned. Models equipped with the CommandQuad transmission can be optionally fitted with a Compact CommandARM, with the functions located on the armrest.
Up to four mechanical or electric selective control valves (SCVs) are available – the latter a new option available for the first time on the 6M range. Switches on the electrohydraulic joystick are fully programmable, and direction of travel can be changed on both the electrohydraulic and mechanical joysticks via a push-button.
A mechanical cab suspension, John Deere’s proven Triple Link Suspension front axle and an optional 360-degree LED lighting package further enhances driver comfort and efficiency.
The 6M series is available with three different gearbox options including PowrQuad and AutoQuad - both four-step powershift transmissions, while CommandQuad Plus offers fully automatic gear and range shifting without using the clutch. An EcoShift function allows operators to travel at a maximum speed of 40km/h at a reduced engine speed of 1590rpm.
In addition, AutoClutch allows the operator to comfortably stop and restart the tractor simply by using the brake pedal.
Commencing MY20, a one year JDLink subscription will now be a standard offering on all 6M models. A new version of the SF6000 receiver is available with an updated antenna.
