With more farmers chasing increased productivity and working with shorter sowing windows, local machinery distributor and manufacturer, Serafin Machinery, went to work in early 2021 designing a single disc seeder bar featuring a hefty working width that’s also easy to transport.
Six months later, Serafin is convinced it has come up with the right machine that will tick farmers’ boxes.
Launching exclusively on farmmachinerysales.com.au’s Virtual Field Days, Serafin’s Ultisow S18FF & S24FF forward fold single disc seeders are now ready for the market and ready to order for the 2022/2023 season.
Serafin’s new Forward Fold single disc seeding bars feature two working widths - 18m and 24m, which Serafin said is one of the widest in Australia.
Both models fold to 4.8m width and 4.2m height for ease of transport from farm to farm, which Serafin said has been a key requirement for farmers.
The seeder bars feature a strong, fully powder coated main frame with hydraulic lift, hydraulic fold and a special adjustable hydraulic hitch to allow easy access to the row unit modules for maintenance purposes.
Serafin Machinery said this is an important feature for farmers who needed to access their seeding modules for fixing or maintenance without having to bend or crawl their way through the machine. The feature, first launched in Serafin’s Ultisow HiLift seeder bar, has been a big hit with farmers, the company said.
Other standard features of Serafin’s new Ultisow S18FF & S24FF seeders include six large, heavy-duty flotation tyres, and electric over hydraulic control of the row unit down pressure from within the cab.
Row unit spacing on the Ultisow Forward Fold seeders range from 250mm over two ranks to 375mm spacing on one rank.
“Most other seeder bars of this forward fold configuration operate on only one rank of units and have a wide row spacing of usually 300mm,” Serafin said.
Serafin is now in the process of manufacturing the first Ultisow Forward Fold seeding unit that will be available for viewing in eight to 12 weeks’ time.
Serafin has also forward sold two 24m models which will be built and operational by early 2022 in time for sowing a winter crop. With high ongoing demand for machinery builds and production of larger models being limited, Serafin Machinery suggests customers secure their new seeder for the 2022/2023 season now to avoid missing out.
Pricing for the new models is yet to be confirmed, but Serafin said the information will be released later this year in the company’s new 2022 Serafin Ultisow Price Book.
