In what John Deere claimed to be one of its largest product releases in a decade, eight new self-propelled sprayer models with tank sizes up to 7500 litres have been added to the brand’s local offering and will be available to order from mid-2021.
John Deere has added three new 400 (408R, 410R and 412R) and two new 600 (612R and 616R) models with tank sizes up to 6000 litres and a range of new technology to deliver enhanced operator comfort and productivity.
A new boom recirculation feature ensures liquid solution is kept in suspension so the boom is always primed and ready to spray. The air purge system enables improved cleanout to save time and reduce waste.
The new models also come with John Deere’s AutoTrac system to keep the sprayer in rows for precise product placement. John Deere ExactApply also comes standard, allowing operators to more accurately control droplet size, spray pressure and individual nozzles. An optional BoomTrac Pro 2 feature further enhances spraying accuracy by maintaining the boom’s position at all times.
All John Deere 400 and 600 Series sprayers are driven by the CommandDrive powertrain that Deere said reduces engine revolutions to save fuel while maintaining a consistent speed and spray pattern.
To ensure farmers can leverage the power of their data, the sprayers come standard with a JDLink connection, integrated StarFire GPS receiver, Generation 4 CommandCenter display and free access to the John Deere Operations Center, allowing customers to easily view and monitor their equipment and data.
John Deere is also offering a spot spraying technology with the 400 and 600 series that only treats weeds that have been detected, helping minimise input costs.
Developed in partnership with the University of Southern Queensland, See & Spray is an integrated camera technology that works with John Deere ExactApply to provide efficient and accurate spraying. With See & Spray, farmers get a choice between targeted and blanket spraying which can easily be selected from within the cab.
The new tech also allows farmers to apply more expensive and complex tank mixes more efficiently.
See & Spray works by detecting green plants in fallow ground which triggers nozzles directly above the weed to spray on it. In doing so, it achieves a similar hit rate to traditional broadcast spraying but uses an average 77 per cent less herbicide, John Deere said.
Alongside the new 400 and 600 series, John Deere is also unveiling an all-new line-up of self-propelled sprayers spanning three models - STS12, STS16 and STS20 that were designed in conjunction with sprayer expert, Hagie.
The new models feature tank sizes ranging from 4500 litres to 7500 litres and are powered by John Deere PowerTech 9.0-litre engines generating between 300 to 400hp.
The new models incorporate Hagie’s tried and tested features, including high clearance, four-wheel steer and front boom with John Deere’s technologies and the comfort of an all-new cab.
Like John Deere’s other offerings, the Hagie sprayers also include JDLink, integrated StarFire GPS receiver, Generation 4 CommandCenter display, AutoTrac guidance as well as free access to the John Deere Operations Center. This allows operators to easily transition between their Hagie and John Deere equipment and enjoy a common operator experience.
CommandDrive also comes standard on the Hagie models which help to monitor wheel slip. The All Wheel Steer technology keeps tyres in the same set of tracks while turning on headlands to reduce crop damage.
